We had to stay overnight in Bangkok to travel on to our holiday destination in Phuket. We took a taxi to the hotel, chosen for its closeness to the Airport. Were a bit doubtful as we turned into the road and went past a very rundown area but the Vismaya was a total delight and a great find. all reviews » My wife and I loved the Vismaya because they are very friendly and extremely helpful. We had a 36hr layover in bkk and stayed for two nights. When our taxi arrived, the porter was out of the door getting our luggage before we stepped out of the taxi. When we showed up with our 6month old daughter, they offered us a full size play pen, without us asking for one. That impressed us and made mommy a happy camper. (It's important to make mommy happy, especially after an international trip from the u. The hotel is very close to BKK airport, but far enough to be silent. I spent there 1 night only, arriving in BKK at night and leaving to Koh Samui the morning after. They offer a wonderful service from/to the airport at every time of the day, included in the rate (if required while booking). The restaurant can offer you dinner and the breakfast included has a pretty good selection of Thai hot and cold dishes, fruits, coffee, cakes. It is on a dirt road and is difficult to go any where without a car. I would use this hotel for layovers only. Road to the hotel is poor but we felt no need to get of the premises during our one-night stay. Few lizards outside the room as hotel corridors are open :) The road to hotel needs to be fixed, it is little far from main road and the road is very bad. Taxi complained in the evening when it was also raining. The view from the room is not so nice as what you can see it's slum belt. So you don't know if it's safe to go outside the hotel. So you don't have any choice than eating in the hotel. So the price are a bit expensive for Thailand. Also, there is only one way transfert to the airport so you have to pay the return way not included. And it's around 4 dollars, which it's a bit expensive for Thailand, especially that the hotel is really closed to the airport. Not the best area to walk around outside the hotel. We had no time for this anyway, but may be something to consider for others. Only surroundings are not the best but its Thailand so those are not uncommon images. Nothing. I would comment that the rooms are sparten but very clean and all that you need. Being an airport hotel, the transport arrangement is very poor. Arriving at 2am in the morning, and having advised the hotel in advance on my arriving flight, I would expect not having to wait 40 minutes to get transported to the hotel. The only thing that lets this place down is that there are concrete floors in the rooms, which spoils the whole appearance . Add floor covering and the rooms would easily go up a star rating. Perfect for transit however... That we couldnt stay longer and that it was an airport hotel rather than in bangkok!. Exercise room limited: should have a C2 rowing machine (or similar) and a universal weight machine, or a set of free weights. The room took ages to cool down when we arrived and it was very hot for a few hours but did cool down and was a very comfortable temperature. Otherwise all was good. Lacks ambience, floors are concrete but it's exceptionally clean and inside the rooms are excellent value for money. The muddy road outside which I think is going to be fixed soon. Little choice on menu. Breakfast not that great. Food etc overpriced as the hotel is no where near restaurants etc. so they can overcharge. The area is very poor so not good for walking out. Basically you are based in an oasis. However the cost of a night there is such good value, enjoy the hotel and eat in the restaurant there. No view to speak of and pool was a little cloudy. Breakfast a little boring and need to know how to make fried eggs that are not hard. Would like to have had wheat toast. Charge for shuttle (80 bht). Nothing close by. Can't complain really. For the money paid it's just fine. Nothing. Not the best neighbourhood to wander around but no problem if using hotel as a transit resting place. The rooms are bare and boxy with polished concrete floors. The breakfast buffet was minimal with cordial instead of juice. Nothing i didnt like about this place .we only stayed 1night stop over. A bit hard to find, down a dirt track, but worth persevering!. Not a very nice area but we were only using it to break trip home to Australia. Just sat by the pool which was exactly what we wanted. Just the communication. Well most places in Thailand people cannot speak English well having hard time to communicate, I'm lucky i didn't lost my brain and my gps is always working.
