The Hotell Valsaren is a good hotel and certainly a better choice than yet another budget chain hotel. But it's a quirky kind of place. Location is excellent, central in Västerås, yet close to the highway. The hotel is in a converted building in an industrial area. Our second floor room was sizeable, quiet, nicely-renovated and clean. The staff was very friendly and responsive.
Nice location not far from Oslo-Stockholm highway. Staff is very
friendly and open. Even in evening there is food for free (sandviches,
tea, coffee, cookies, fruits). Rooms are rather big and comfortable (and
clean). The place itself is a kind of industrial factory, which became a

I travel a lot and this was a unique 'stay experience' that I would definitely recommend. The ambience, decor and service approach was great and a welcome change from the standardised hotels you find in most towns. Stay here if you can!.
Very friendly staff, nice modern rooms, easy to go by car, free parking, quiet area, walking distance from town center, very good price, excellent breakfast.

One limitation is the lack of an elevator, which may mean lugging heavy suitcases up the winding stairs. The decor in the corridors is a little kitschy. Breakfast facilities are adequate, but awkward.
I didnt have long enough to explore the surroundings.
