Location was the main attraction for me towards this hostel. Located right in Old Town, you're right in the center of Stockholm. In addition, this is not a traditional hostel. While you do 'share a room' and the bathrooms with others, there's a huge room divided into smaller bedrooms for individual travelers, with glass walls and curtains and a special key code to get into your individual room. I guess I'd call it sort of a hotel/hostel hybrid. It's a neat place to stay, and in my opinion wort.
all reviews » This place felt so much like home from the very first moment I arrive with my sister. It was very clean and for the money you spend you do not expect that. Location is great. I did not need to take any means of transport since many attractions(Royal Palace, Diugarden, Fotografiska museum) are in walking distance of maximum 30'. For those who do not like walking though, the Gamla Stan station is only 3' walk from the Old Town Lodge. I would definitely recommend it and if I ever go back I would s. excellent location, you can't find a more central place than this, with beautiful narrow streets and lots of bars and small restaurants around; it's 10 mins walk from the metro station and it's absolutely safe. I had a private room in the basement, big enough to open two hand baggages, not too bad considering there was no window; the leaving room is a common area and it's very cozy and confortable. The location. Peaceful, friendly personnel, practical, clean, stylish, simple, no crash in the house. Outside the house all possibilities to your choose nearby. The luggage was taken care of even before and after checking the rooms. The coffee was ready in the morning. The easiness how everything worked; the door code, the kitchen, envelope with instructions to dormitory (cellar should be better indicated in the instructions and on top of the stairs). This was a safe place. Last minute booking made it quite cheap in the dormitory. we stayed at the double room it was beautiful and everything was just as it was written on the website. it's a very quiet place, you don't really feel the other guests Great staff, we really liked Teresa but they are all very nice and helpful. Excellent hostel in excellent location. The breakfast was quite good. The room was very warm, comfortable and pleasant to return after wet and cold autumn weather outside. That taxis do not find the ROAD at all, it is not in GPS. The Old Town Lodge hostel should give every client a text in Swedish and English on how to drive to the hostel. The clients would save money! Due hills this is not place for handicapped. In the dormitory some noisier sleepers might disturb. They did not disturb me, everyone was discreet and polite!! A Great place to stay on a smaller budget. The absence of shelves in the room - it could have helped to keep our numerous things in order. Be careful in the rooms of underground - from next-door neighbors separates you only glass-wall and curtains. Hot water in shower was a bit sparse at times. Water in shower was cold. Room was super small and underground, and rather expensive for such as small room. No lifts / elevators. Free breakfast was only bread and jam. Also, we had a lot of trouble dragging 3 luggage on the uneven surfaces of Gamla Stan's streets. almosy nothing negative. Even wifi worked:). Internet is very spotty. Wifi signal at most times did not exist or was too weak. Bathroom and showers should be cleaned more than once a day. Plan on making/buying your own breakfast. - Seemed tucked in a quiet alley, can be scary at night - Rooms in the vault have noise amplified at night so can be quite noisy - Rooms in the vault rather small & dark - Toilets & showers may have to be labelled in English too. A bit noisy inside. Breakfast was too simple - with regards to the famous Swedish breakfast we'd have expected a wider range of foods. The 'cobblestone' streets of Old Town can be 'rougj' on your suitcase wheels. No place to put my toilet bag in the shower or the toilet. It can be very noisy at night, you can even hear when people are whispering. They have provided earplugs for this. Still, it makes the stay a little uncomfortable. WiFi internet connection don't work mostly of times. price was high for not a private room. (There was a reaaaaly small private area for my bed but its open from top so you can hear all others around you). - Breakfast "youth-hostel-style", i.e. make your own coffee / toast, put your name on your stuff in the fridge (otherwise "somebody" will take it). That's basically ok, but the hotel should explain that and put up signs accordingly (e.g. "what to do, when I take the last pot") - Staff wasn't really enthusiastic. I didn't like the room number 1 (without windows), but everything was OK. ashes keep dropping from the ceiling onto our bed. So be careful your eyes and mouth when you're laying on the bed. - a little bit stuffy in the daytime. Room very small and basic. Tiny kitchen and not much hot water. No complaints. Since I was on a business trip I booked a complete family room for myself. So, the value for money was a bit questionable for me. I would definitely consider going back on a private trip though, bringing the family with me. the reception is service from 09:00 to17:00 only. nothing. there is no induction cooker. breakfast. there was not really warm water in the shower.
