The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and informative. We have never visited Rotterdam before and did not know much about where to go and things to do. Upon arrival, the receptionist provided us with a map of the city and also recommended a selection of places to go out for drinks, where to eat and how to get around. The staff went above and beyond to help us and they even made our dinner reservation at the restaurant of our choice. We have never experienced such excellent customer service.
all reviews » Turning left out of the central train station, it's an easy 5-minute walk away. Seemingly half the city's trams pass through the station out front. I had a conference at the convention center, which is a 10-minute walk on mainly pedestrian streets. Although the room was not especially large, with one queen bed it did not feel at all cramped. The construction was new and the decoration cheerful; windows along the length of one wall were welcome, as was the substantial desk. The bed was comfor. Good value for money. Ideal location near Central Station - 5 minutes walk for trains to visit various other destinations. Sound proof windows despite being on main road - a huge blessing. Good view of city as ample space around hotel. Courteous friendly reception staff. Very new hotel and in top condition. Security of swipe card to use lift. Proximity to bars and shops. No families or children or noisy young crowd. Perfect for mature couples and business. Tram stops right in front of hotel and. I liked everything, very clean and comfy, with everything anyone could need plus the posibility to ask for anything else like slippers, shave cream, etc. Stuff very helpful that let me do an early check in and late check out, even though I was only staying one night. It's perfectly located in a safe and clean area, right next to the Central Train Station and other facilities. Good internet wifi signal all over the hotel, and even outside, at the front door. I went to a congress in Rotterdam, at De Doelen complex and took my wife and daughter with me. The hotel is at walking distance of the congress center and the train station, that was really convenient. There's a tram stop just in front and a metro entrance across the street. Our room was a bit small but very comfortable, nice TV. Breakfast is very good. Modern, clean, good free internet and excellent location for access to CS station and business areas. The excellent hotel for a short stay. 3 minutes walk from the CS. Same for restaurants or shoping. There was nothing I did not like about this hotel. Amenities were limited -- soap dispensers, instant coffee, no real closets or drawers (though some shelves), small TV. The breakfast buffet was only cold food and could get monotonous after a number of days. 2 of the 4 lifts were not yet usable causing impatience to business people and office goers (during peak hours) who mainly use the hotel and need to grab a quick breakfast and get to work. Continental breakfast though very nice was not varied at all and got a bit monotonous. Map provided by reception was a smudged, blurred photocopy and un-readable. I would have loved something hot for breakfast like scrumbled eggs for example. I also missed natural orange juice. We had to change room because a door didn't close well and initially people from reception were kind of rude, but at the end they gave us another one. Everything else was ok. Perhaps a little more advertising at the train station of its location from the station. The visibility is zero when seeing from the direction of the central station. Pay attention that the front dest is not at the ground floor. Very thick pillows - fortunately I brought my own. Maybe thinner ones are available at reception. If not I would recommend this. Parking expensive 20€ day but some hotels are more expensive. Sugestion bacon & eggs would make this hotel perfect!. There wasn't a full bar. Although when we arrived in at night we could get a coffee, wine etc.and a sandwich from the vending machine. However, we made our way up to Va Piano which was wonderful and we'll go back there if we go to Rotterdam again. Not easiest to find due to lack of signs. This is something very personal, I do hate carpets and this hotel is full of carpets. Still as hotel is very new, they all look ok and clean. But when you are allergic to dust it is not the best to have on the floor. A little bit small room comparing to American standard. Nothing----. - the rooms have no windows, so ventilation is 100% mechanic - rooms could have a bit more space, although this is not a major problem. The location is in a new build office area with huge office buildings aroundand it is bit cold and not much going on in the evening. The hotel has no restaurant and only serves breakfast. The selection at the breakfast buffet is a bit slim, i.e. no eggs but still the hotel is value for money. It was difficult to find the parking garrage. The breakfast room is too small, it was busy and hectic like on the central station and even noisy. The variety of the breakfast could be more. It was very difficult to locate when walking from the train station for the first time. Even taxi drivers struggled to locate. 25 euros to get a 2 hour late check out elevator to the guest floors accessible to the public on the ground floor out of sight of the main desk - should install a monitor in the elevator area to deter non-guests from entering (i.e. increase security). Location is not particularly interesting or appealing. I am used to sleeping in many hotels but some reason I did not sleep well, I think the beds are a little hard although I experienced similar in Brazil and slept like a log. I do think that the air con should somehow be kept activated when the card is taken from the entry mechanism. Breakfast staff didn't acknowledge you, not even a smile or a 'Good Morning'. The hotel should put more signage of the Holiday Inn Rotterdam. As I arrived from Central Station, I walk left and right with my luggage to search for the hotel. After all the building looks more of an office block than a hotel. No room safe which I view as an essential for travellers. There were no aspects of my visit that I did not like. the breakfast is not enough..and if you stay more then 2 nights, it can be difficult.. The "soft" pillows weren't so soft... Nothing. Nothing. No iron in room, limited tea & coffee facilities & horrible view from room. breakfast could be better. Windows cannot open. 1) Front desk is at the 1st floor, not at the base floor as most hotels. Have to take lift to front desk. Sometimes not easy to find. 2) Not significant sign at the outside of the main entrance for fist-timer to find when driving at the main road. It is quite simple & boring inside.
