The hotel is situated right in the heart of Amsterdam. The hotel itself is quite large, but despite this it has a very intimate feel. Each floor has a slightly different design, and each space is unique. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. They were exceptionally helpful. Before I arrived I had to request an invoice. I had a few issues, but they were all resolved very quickly, via clear and prompt email communication. I also requested a room with a double bed, towards the back .
all reviews » Excellent location, right in the heart of the city...we walked everywhere! This hotel is very different to any other hotel I have stayed in. It's so funky and artistic. It's like a maze inside but we found this fun navigating back to our room after an enjoyable night out in Amsterdam. Even better after a long day was getting into the Queen size bed which was very comfortable. We liked the friendly reception we got when we arrived. We liked the location, close to the railway-station. The room was clean, good shower and quiet at night, which was great. Nice looking facility for breakfast next door sadly we left too early to try it. We would certainly stay there should we go to Amsterdam again. The location is 10/10, the rooms were spacious and comfortable. This is my 3rd time staying at the hotel and Its always my hotel of choice when visiting Amsterdam. I have stayed in so called better Hotels in Amsterdam, including Doubletree by Hilton and Renaissance and Hotel Exchange is my preffered. I've never seen a hotel that looks so cosy, so clean and so welcoming. It breathes out the youngness, the modern and the imagination. The rooms are to die for! I will definitely come back and try to recommend it whenever I get the chance. The location was very good only 5 minutes walk from central station in one direction and Dam Square in the other. The room was extremely comfortable if a bit small. Bed was one of the best that I have ever slept in. Very little hotel in the Amsterdam’s heart. Perfect to stay a night at the city center and visit old town. There is only 5 minutes walk to the Amsterdam central station if you want to go to the airport Schiphol. Fantastic location right in the city centre. Close to the main train station. We booked a basic room which was simple but everything was clean and high quality. We liked the individual decor of the rooms. The Staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough to help. The location was perfect. So pleased we could leave our luggage there in a secure locked room. Thankyou so much for everything. The hotel is very central; you are literally situated in the middle of the Damrak. The beds were super comfy, even in the 3* room we stayed in and the pillows were really soft!. The location is excellent. As everybody said, great location, 300 meters from the Central Station and Dam Square Next to all facilities (whatever shopping you like ;) ) Nice decoration, we got the 'Arabic Style' room as on the picks. Despite being one of the ugliest streets in Amsterdam, the hotel location is really good if you are arriving at Central Station and you wish to move in the centre. Hotel is centrally located to everything from venues to transport. Staff very helpful. Bed was a good size and the wet room. Can't fault it in anyway. The price was more than you would expect for this standard of hotel - the most that I have ever paid in 10 years of regular travelling to Amsterdam. Room was very tiny and there was no breakfast. No closet/hanging space in our room. Other than that, nothing really!. I was expecting a slightly bigger room for what we paid but it was quite small, the view out the window was of another wall! There were also some very random noises; we were quite close to the reception area. We couldn't hear any street traffic but weird banging and strange noises in the morning time!. The shower. Breakfast outside the hotel. Location: Noisy Damrak Street was hard on sleep. Pulling windows downs meant much less noise but it made the inside very warm. Could be a better place to stay when the mercury is down and windows are closed. Free WiFi was so slow that it was actually unusable. photos are not very real, but a bit more artistic. The room was small and didn't have any drawers so I had to live out of my suitcase and throw everything on the floor. My window looked out on the main street (Damrak) so it was a bit noisy at times, but I think that's normal if you stay in the centre of Amsterdam. Price was a little high and no breakfast is included but other than that everything was perfect. Couldn't check in till 15:00. The price! Always painfull having to (for 2) pay full prize when you travel single. Nothing. had to ask for kettle/iron etc but no problems at all. A little cold, heating either not working or not turned on. No hairdryer in room. Shower not very powerful. TV placed high on wall and not at an angle you can see from bed. the shower has no doors or curtains the front door is very small, you have to look carefully to find it. letsbookhotel.com made a shambles of our booking which took us almost an hour to resolve on the day we checked in. The room didn't have a single drawer, so all our clothes had to remain on the suitcase for the whole stay. The staff provided for some eye masks, but some sort of drapers would have been better so not to wakeup with the daylight at 6am. the room was really very small. Small rooms. The rooms are tiny, which is a regular feature of hotels in Amsterdam. Room was a bit too hot. the vending machine was expensive. No hair dryer. room was tiny. The room we had was not very private as it was just above the street level. The curtains looked make shift and had to be kept closed to allow for some privacy. As we came for the kings inaururation we booked and paid 3 month in advance. 2 weeks before arrival we asked and where confirmed room in the front to see the activities. Upon arrival we were told rooms not availabele, only the more expensive upgrade would get us room in the front.So we paid, a very old hotel trick, had not expected these kind of shenanegans, will not recomend to anyone.should get the money back!!!. The room was small though (12 m² including bathroom), so if you are a little bit claustrophobic, I would not recommend it :) (we could open the window) For a short stay (we did 2 days) it is good but maybe not for a week. The hotel has good design on the common areas, but in our bedroom (2nd floor), the design was missing. The room was tiny without any space to keep clothes. The bathroom was clean but not functional (E.G. didn't even have a hair drier). The views from the room were horrendous: to a bad condition back yard full of pigeons. Not worth at all the money we paid. The heater is covered by the window sill, preventing circulation room was very cold. There is also no carpet on floor, so coming out of warm bathroom onto a cold floor was just bearable.
