The hotel is very conveniently located (near the train station, the canal boat locations and the highly walkable set of city canals). The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (I was having back spasms and they really took care of me.) Our room was remarkably quiet -- the Damrak was full of noisy soccer fans, but our window opened onto a well between buildings and we heard almost none of it.
all reviews » I was here about 10 days ago with my friends, the location was really excellent, in the town center and near the train station, staff was helpful and very kind, the reception works 24h a day, it was clean and we had so much fun, I would recommend it if you are coming to Amsterdam. Friendly staff, clean rooms, excellent location and we got what we was advertised. If you want the Ritz then book at the Ritz. If you want a clean, safe place to put your head down for a few nights then this place is good. I loved the hotel it was really clean and was cleaned everyday.. it was right in the centre of amsterdam on the canal it was brilliant we didnt have to walk far. Staff wore nice. great location,everything is in walking distance,room was nice and cozy own bathroom,just what i wanted,staff are very friendly and helpful,will stay there again,thank you. staff were very friendly and helpful.. rooms were very clean and comfortable.. location was fantastic to train station and city centre.. great place to stay. It was not so expensive in centre of Amsterdam where hotel prices are too high to save money. The room was kept clean. The location is very good, being on Damrak, we thought it might be quite noisy, but the room being at the back was surprisingly quiet. The people in management were very. Liked nothing,dirty overpriced prison cell like. Only location... One caveat: if you don't like stairs, this is not the hotel for you. It is a proper Amsterdam structure: tiny footprint, many levels, with no room for an elevator. Good railings on all the stairways, but they have to be steep. Rooms are not very big and there is no lift, so you have to carry up your luggage by stairs, but at the end that is not so important compared to the things you get. Check out is at 10 am. The amount of stairs to the hotel room. Stairs wore very steep! Had to hold onto onward stairs to get up. (Wouldn drink and walk up these) haha. The room is quite small. Small room but it was bearable. All was good. nothing. Don't stay in room 102 unless you don't mind sharing with the pigeon stuck in the air vent. Nothing I did not like. no elavator. The noise at night. The building was old and something cannot work. It has no elevator, which may trouble you if you have any heavy luggage. the stairs are very steep, but this is a feature of Amsterdam houses. Older people should be aware. The staircase. Amsterdam itself, was battered by Amsterdam police for no reason. VERY long stairs and no elevator. Noises, you can hear everything our of your room. Little bit dusty. Phone didn't work. High price was only for the location. Space of rooms. Too many stairs. Room is very small and it was quite noisey however I still wouldnt rule this hotel out but feel ist best suited to young people in groups who may be travelling or partying alot. Small bed, sheet didn't fit too well on mattress. My room was in the last floor. The stairs are narrow and very angled. Nobody helped me out with my bag. Only stay there if I get a room on the first floor. it is too noisy in the room near the road.and in midnight sometimes has people screaming which drive us mad!. No elevator, so travel light if you get the higher floor for your room. Surrounding very noisy till dawn what to expect when your hotel is very close with bar and nightlife so get very little sleep. It's like all old dutch buildings: very tall and narrow, with long and steep stairs. What is the problem with that? There is no elevator. Carrying a 30kg suitcase to the 4th floor... no fun. Also, the wifi signal (on the 4th floor) is very, very weak. The rooms are clean, but it could be better. We rented a double room, but it was very small (as was the bed). Ah, and the tv in the room had no remote control: you had to make a previous deposit of 10 EUR to get one. Our bedroom was very cold, the heat didn't work and the bed was very uncomfortable, the mattress was bigger than the base, very bad! Also there was no wifi from my bedroom, if I wanted to get connected had to go downstairs and there was a huge staircase! If you stay at this hotel you are only paying for the location and that is it... Room was to small for the price I payed. Tiny room Shared bathroom No view Noise Every time I was in the room there were people working outside smashing ladders and things into my door. We paid 230 Euros for night in a place where you can hear everybody passing in the corridor as if they were in your room. Public toylet was in front of our door, so you hear clearly all those noises as well. The size of the room was the size of the bed with broken mattress. Very bad rooms and really small. Too expensive for the room, you dont have toilet and also is too small. Unclean,overpriced,3/4 single bed not double as booked,room was so small it was difficult for two to dress at same time.Had to pay up front before seeing room or would have walked out. Rooms too small.windows broken.no heat at night.smell of potatos.too expensive.
