Fantastic stay @ murphys of Killarney . We stayed one night with our son on our travel around Southern Ireland . Welcomed immediately , shown our room , the rad in the room was not heating which I noticed immediately as we had been caught in a lovely intense Irish rain shower @ muckross house & I needed to dry our coats. I informed reception & we were moved to another room before the bags were out of the car . No complaint with heat after that ... Room was so cosy & warm . We dined .
all reviews » Murphy's is very central to the town but very close to the national parks also. There was a lot happening in the town when we were there (mainly pub related by the looks of it). The b & b was very clean and most of the staff very friendly. We had a double room which was fairly small but extremely clean and well laid out. Not a great view from this room (205) - a close up of a white wall and nothing else! Not a major issue if only staying overnight as we were. My partner had the Full Irish b. We really liked everything about our stay. The room was great, quite large and very clean. The staff was extremely friendly especially Maureen with whom we had many laughs but also Siobhan who was there early to see us off. They have made our stay a little bit more special. Apart from the really nice rooms and staff, the hotel is very nicely decorated and the pubs and restaurant offer great food and a really yummy breakfast. Will be definitely returning!. Very atmospheric hotel with a good restaurant offering typical Irish entertainment. Very close to town centre and to excursions in the surrounding countryside. Special dietary request was catered for. Clean and comfortable. Everyone at Murphy's was so nice and helpful. We were celebrating our honeymoon and they welcomed us upon arrival. Breakfast was good. The location was great and it was so fun to stay above a great pub!. We enjoyed being in a traditional pub which was well located, including nearby parking. There was no lock on the bathroom door also there was numerous hoovers and bits of cleaning equipment/liquids left unattended in the corridors on more than one occasion. There was absolutely nothing to dislike!. not much. Room was very warm. Seems like more often than not the front desk was not manned and we had to wait for someone from Murphy's bar to be free to help us. nothing comes to mind. Our room was above the alleyway that had a very noisy extractor fan beside it. We eventually got used to the sound so it was ok. This wasnt enough to ruin our stay but next time we stay I will ask to be put on the other side of the building. weather was very hot when we stayed there and our room had no view from the window only a wall. we had to have the window open all the time and we didnt sleep well because the kitchen skylight window was near our window, so we could hear all the noise from the kitchen and it was noisy with fans and machinery. I didn't like breakfast being served in the main bar, it's classed as a hotel and i think it should serve breakfast in a dining room, considering there are 2 function rooms upstairs close to the bedrooms. I feel these would have been a better choice as a breakfast venue, wasn't impressed with breakfast in main bar, would stay inmMurphy again but would consider having breakfast in another venue,. Our stay wasn't long enough. Nothing. Nothing. I thought they had the music every night so we were dissapointed the one evening when there wasn't any entertainment. The walls are a bit thin and there is no bathtub. Apparently no hotel parking. The fact I was quoted 70 euro when booking but was charged 75 did not want to make big deal of it as was only 5 euro and I was in company of other guests but its just the principle of it.... heating gets very warm around 6am and will wake u. no one on desk when checking in, as its a pub/guesthouse a barman had to check us in, he could have been bit more friendly, but overall could not fault Murphys. View out of the window was of a wall... but for views get out of your hotel and on the road!. the extractor fan outside bedroom window which i no cant be helped. A bit noisy if your room is on the main road due to vistitors leaving night-club. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. No parking facilities available at Murphy's and it was busy in Killarney so very limited parking available so ended up paying €12 for overnight parking which added onto the price of the room ended up being an expensive night out. Room was a little on the small side but was very clean. Paid parking. The view was over a carpark roof and gas cylinders, no bath. Room to back and the restaurant ventilating system runs all night.
