The location was brilliant if you want to party...right in the heart of all the bars and clubs, staff are great, hostel is very clean. I stay here when i'm going to any concerts in Dublin. Don't let the fact that it's a hostel put you off, i always book private ensuite rooms so it's just like staying in a hotel only rooms are very small but if you only want somewhere to lay your head then this hostel is ideal!.
all reviews » The Hostel was situated exactly in the happening area. If you have never been to Dublin before like myself. This is one stop place to me. It is in the center of connecting everywhere else. I stayed for 3nights and I enjoyed my stay there. The staff were very helpful. I would recommend it to anyone who has a really tight budget and needs a good space for lay over. I enjoyed everything including meeting many different people, the staff on the front desk were very helpful, i stayed at Barnacles in Temple Bar Dublin on 22/10/2013 until 29/10/2013 and from 3 to 5/10/2013. We had our own bathroom & they even supplied towels, shampoo, soap and compimentary earplugs since it's dead in the middle of the noisy & fun Temple Bar area. Very helpful staff. They were helpful with dirctions and information, too. Thanks. Barnacles staff!. Excellent Staff here in this Hostel. And the location is amazingly in the Temple Bar area. For bar&club players, this is your dream place. It is near to every major places you got in the city. The location was fantastic. It's right next to The Temple Bar and most attractions are within walking distance. The staff were very helpful and recommended a number of things for me to do. The staff friendly and helpful, the common rooms including the kitchen, where you can meet people and exchange experiences. The room was small but very pretty. The location. However, the kitchen was filthy- it felt like first year of halls- and it's pretty noisy as right next to The Temple Bar. Great location but not a great hostel. It is right in the centre of Temple Bar. The only good thing about this place was the shuttle to the airport. I would have preferred if the common room and kitchen was open all night so we could hang out and have a wee drink when we came back to the hostel. The Shower rushes like very heavy rain stokes and could hit anyone off the tiny little bath. U have to pay rental and deposits to get a towel. So pls get urs with U. The room was a bit hot 'cos the person by d window didn't open it most times. Everything else was fine. I wasn't crazy about the kitchen setup. They have a coffee machine, but didn't turn it on until after 8:30am on a Tuesday morning, which is too late. Things were not well-marked. An elevator is needed for those like us with a lot of luggage. The receptionist did insist on bringing our bags up though - fantastic for a hostel! Thanks!. It could be noisy at night. Busker play songs in 2 in the morning. I got waken up in 4 in the morning cause people yelling outside. Remember to shut your window if you don't want to get waken in the middle of the night. The rooms are pretty small, but I didn't really spend much time there. The first day we arrived late and the bathroom was not spotless but the next day it was clean. Slightly noisy. The carpet around the bathroom was wet. Since the shower door did not leak when I took a shower it must have been one of my roommates. it was a big noisy at midnight, maybe is more suitable for the backpackers instead of family. But overall it is a nice experience for me. Run into bad luck and left us with a room without hot water. Have to take a cold shower at the first place. Anyway, as soon as the staff knows the incident, they provided us with another bath room to shower. The showers were cold and the floor leaked all over my shoes. Would have liked a freezer because we bought ice cream one night. No fan in the room, stayed during the hot weather so would have been nice to have a fan to get some bit of a reprieve from the humidity. Our room for six girls was crazy small, it should have been made for probably four at the most. The bathroom was dreadful. The floor was constantly wet, the shower leaked, and the water pressure was way too high quite painful actually. Being right near the bars, it was quite noisy at night. We couldn't open our balcony door. Breakfast was only toast. We had people banging on our door in the middle of the night - definitely still a hostel. Kitchen only open 7am-midnight, not suitable for our early flight. Pillow was very thin. The beds were a bit small. because of the good location there was a lot of noise.i slept well but i would not recommend to people who have a sensitive sleeping. the heater didn't work well. Mixed sex dorm - first time in a hostel & felt very uncomfortable. I was in late on my second night and my bed was wet had to be moved to another bed which was in convienient. Nothing. Bathrooms too small, no hand shower, wet floors, no hot water at times. Price. Extremely noisy, our room was next to the stairs and the door kept slamming every 5 minutes. Also the fire alarm went off at least 5 times during the evening/night. Staff kept on repeating it was due to showers being taken in the middle of the night, but obviously drunk backpackers returning in the middle of the night and setting off the fire alarm in the middle of the night!!. Noise disturbance Inpolite handling of a booking situation by a staffmember. Cramped and stuffy room. Umm nothing really :/. Noisy area. Not very clean, especially the kitchen! Acoustic conditions are awful! Too many kids! Very young tourists. Thus, lots of noise !. It was really noisy The room was uncomfortable.There was only a bed and a chair and it hadn't enough space for two. Actually there is no breakfast served!!!You have to cook it in a very untidy kitchen and wash your utilities.. Although it was winter, there was no hot water. It was impossible to take a shower in this place. There is no lift. The room was really tiny. The Internet was really bad. I will never return to this place!.
