Situation in Athlone Centre shopping centre, as it was raining! Everything about the hotel was new and fresh. Conservation policy, feather pillows, the sheets, fabulous bathroom, leisure centre with water jets was especially enjoyable.Very friendly, courteous and efficient staff.Ability to rent DVD.etc. On arrival our booking di not seem to be known about. We had printed off the booking confirmation from Bookings.com and were upgraded by the hotel to another room. Great Leisure Facility, Excellent Friendly Staff. Grat location in town centre.

Lack of a restaurant that served less than 4-course meal at night. A "comfort" quality lacking in the Harvest Cafe.Lift from Leisure suite was slow to come. Steam room not working, regrettably. Room was a bit cold. Room service awful. Menu choice in resturant not great (food was fantastic) too much food delivered on each order.myself and my party felt that the bar service was very slow. and there was a queue for breakfast on the Sunday morning. The elevator buttons are very confusing.Parkade level for hotel guests is not labeled AA.We found it confusing finding the parking for the hotel a sign directly on the slip way down to the shopping car park would be helpful. We didn't know in advance that the parking was actually in the shopping centre car park so had to ring the hotel to confirm. The lifts were a bit confusing for my elderly mother. On booking in the receptionist told us there was one euro (voluntary)donation included in our bill for unicef,personaly I think they shouldask if you would like to contribute to it and not be told when youarrive its already on your bill, apart from that I could not fault itand will stay there again. as before a sample menu should be availble on line. was a tad expen, but you get what you pay for. No. Everything was satisfactory.The only negavtive thing is the staff in restaurent did not listen when i made my dinner order which i may add was on top of bill for my room. They took me out wrong food not what i asked for. Only dissapointment was staff did not know any of the local amenities.There was nothing I did not like.I did have a problem as i am allergic to feathers + all the pillows in the room were made from feather.The matter was dealt with by the duty manager and i was happy.I did however find it a bit unusual that there were no alternative pillows available in the hotel + hope that this can be rectified as I'm sure I'm not the only guest you may encounter with this problem. lack of local knowledge. Stayed two nights, shampoos and shower gels not replaced after first.Glasses ect. still outside rooms at 3 o clock. Neither any big deal at the price we paid but if you were paying peak season prices it may affect your overall impression of the hotel which would be a pity. i had a meal in the hotel restaurant and i didnt think it was worth the price, there wasnt much of a selection on the menu- i would recommend the hotel but would advise against having a meal there.Service at breakfast was dreadful. Was waiting at table for twenty minsto get served and finally gave up. Restaurant manager rude,uncurteous and un helpful.wifes dinner had to bereturned as it seemed to be sitting under a heat lamp for way toolong,not the way trout and cous-cous should be served.very verydisappointing.also the bar was not understaffed,but of all the staffthere only one girl,donna,made an impression,whereas the other staffignored the customers waiting 15-20 mins .poor quality cuisine - stains on bathroom floor - no hairdryer. No directional signs to the hotel. No hotel signs to show where to park in the large car park shared with the shopping centre. No toiletries tray in shower and poor shower pressure. Water not hot enough for a bath and only barely hot enough for a shower. Front Desk staff not briefed on air miles. had to get assistance to get released from the car park!. The bedroom was freezing cold. Our rooms were not serviced and i had to ask a young male worker( who was very understanding) at 5p.m; on my second day there to have it done. It was done later but i would question the commitment of the person doing it as apart from beds being half made up and clean towels nothing else in the room was touched, in my opinion. And i am a very understanding customer!. We requested a twin room and when we arrived at hotel only a double room was available. girl at reception kept answering the phone whilst we were standing at the counter waiting to check in, with no apologies for substantial delay. Queue for breakfast and check-out queue too. breakfast was a disaster,serving area was too small and congested,only one chef serving and he cooked the eggs when required so there was always a large que waiting to be served,if the hotel had been full we would have been waiting for ages,toast area was in a corner and too crowded,the leisure facilitys were not available. had to wait until after 6 to check in as room was not ready when we arrived at 5. We were not even offered a free drink while we waited. Mirror in athroom very shabby and worn. Breakfast very poorly organised and very slow. Very expensive for quality we received. very understaffed in bar - waiting 15 minutes for a menu which never arrived so we left. items broken in bathroom - reported to reception when leaving. not good value for money at all- way over priced for very standard room. Bad service,wrong room allocation,staff training badly needed.
