We stayed in Radisson Blu before and this was our second trip love this hotel for its location and the fact that it is on the river Shannon, the weather was fab and we were able to avail of the barbecue which was great value for money. We were up-graded to a Junior Suite on arrival at no extra cost which was a lovely treat. All the staff were very friendly and very helpful. Will definitely stay at the Radisson the next time we visit Athlone.

I arrived after a very long day at a conference in a nearby hotel. It was cold & miserable outside & the minute i walked through the door of the Radisson, i was struck by the warmth of the hotel & the check in staff. My room was lovely. I had a fab view of Athlone town & the river shannon. I had a very comfortable bed, also loved the nespresso coffee machine. This hotel has a very good restaurant, friendly and helpful staff, a lovely view and short walk across the river to Athlone Castle and some great bars/pubs. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, although a bit odd in colour scheme. Athlone itself is a real gem, especially for non-Irish tourists like ourselves. Located very well, staff very helpful and welcoming. Had an issue with electricity one morning and when rang desk they sent someone up straight away who fixed the problem. Although I didn't use it as with visa debit money was taken off card on arrival, express checkout card we seen in room was great idea. I liked the location of the hotel. It was clean and comfortable and offers great value for money in terms of cost of accomodation but also in the restaurant where there was a great offer of dinner for two with a bottle of wine for €59. Dinner was very good and we were more than happy with our stay. My Mother was from just outside Mullingar and I have a cousin outside Longford. This Hotel proved to be excellent in every aspect. Friendly staff and efficiency was their trademark. The food was excellent, and Athlone proved to be a beautiful little town with loads of shops and restaurants. Myself and my husband had a lovely romantic weekend for a very special anniversary the staff were so nice from the girls on reception the bar staff and the girls cleaning the rooms .We had a room overlooking the shannon and we will be back thank you for a lovely weekend. The receptionist was particularly helpful. She phoned a week previous to confirm the booking and check if we wanted dinner. On check in she remembered us and made a huge fuss over my little lady throughout our stay and helped us with any requests and queries we had. The room were really nicely decorated - from the colours to the general decor. We paid a budget price, so we were pleasantly surprised with the decent size of the room. Perfect location for Athlone and really stunning view of the Shannon/Cathedral and Castle. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was great, very good quality and there was a variety of menus available within the hotel to cater for different budgets and dining preferences. We enjoyed our stay and would happily return to stay again. I liked the hotel location and the view from the room window. Also I liked that the staff listened to our request not to be distubded in the room in the mornings. I especially liked the late checkout at no extra cost. I will be staying at this hotel again. Liked the food; it was excellent, especially the brown bread. The view from our rooms was fantastic and the Radisson Blu was within easy access of the town for shopping and leisurely, scenic walks. Rooms were well-equipped, quiet and comfortable. Perfect location in centre of town beside river. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful particularly Sarah on reception. Ate there twice and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Altogether, a very nice experience and will return. Highly recommended. Hotel desig is lovely. I asked for a room facing the river that also got the evening sun - the hotel provided this. I was also upgraded to a Business Class room - lovely design - bright / tasteful colours. I liked the curtesy of the reception staff, their efficiency and prompt allocation of my room. The room allocated to me was excellent in all respects - 105 - the bar lunch of fish and chips could not be surpassed anywhere. We found the staff, particularly at reception very helpful and professional. My husband mislaid/lost his wallet in the bedroom which a member of the housekeeping staff found and returned. The lounge area had nice views of the river. It was just a short walk too the town centre. Also the castle, which was worth a visit. Our room had a little fridge which was good and a reasonable wiew from the window. I loved the view over the Marina from our room. The location of the hotel is perfect for shopping or eating out in one of the local restaurants. I can recommend the Kin Khao, The Locke, & The Thyme Restaurant. The hotel was lovely and in a great location but the staff were exceptional in their manner and professionalism - I travel quite a bit and would have to say that the staff here were the best that I have dealt with. Lovely hotel, great facilities and lots to do within walking distance. Great pubs and restaurants locally, serving great food with the customary Irish hospitality. There was a substantial crack in the bathroom washhand basin. Breakfast was very good but perhaps there could be a little more cold meat & cheese selection available for those choosing to have continental. Room was a bit stuffy as there was no working air-con, something we discovered is typical in Irish hotels outside of Dublin. The staff were happy to provide a fan, although we didn't use it. There was an event in the function room which meant there was loud dance music and a rowdy crowd around. It made it difficult to get sleep and to get my daughter to sleep but this was probably out of the control of the hotel. You wudnt come to this hotel for a Spa/ Relaxation/Relaxation. There was no spa, which is odd for a 4 star.The pool, sauna, steam room was very small. No jacuzzi or hot tub,etc. In the rooms, the bathroom was small for a 4 star, but still nice and clean. These were the only downfalls. Nothing. I didnt like that in the bar there was no straws, such a minor thing and I assumed it was a stock issue. I did mention at the time of checkout that the keycard didnt work on the last nite and it had to be jammed in and I was advised this had to pushed down wit force, maybe this is something the hotel can look into. But overall this was a lovely hotel and we will stay again. Loved everything about the room and hotel - lovely view - but did notice that perhaps the toilet bowl was due for a change. There was brown inside and I think that was from age rather than not being cleaned properly. The bedrooms have no air conditioning and were very uncomfortable in this warm weather. We did not sleep very well. I did hear another person complain at the reception about this also. I didn't like the number of times I needed to go downstairs to have my keycard re-programmed and I didn't like having to hang around the foyer for almost an hour after midnight waiting for someone to fix the card. I didn't like that when there was no ink for the printer in the business centre that no-one seemed to care. When I asked about the public telephone (after trying many times) I didn't like being told "Oh, that's never worked". An out of order sign would be helpful. Nothing. No jacuzzi in the leisure centre. TVs in bedrooms were very dated. Nothing. Nothing. Breakfast was poor. After having breakfast at 5 different hotels in Ireland this was the worst. Quality and condition of cold meat and cheeses was poor. It was the only thing that prevented this from being a perfect stay. We where there in September.The temperture of the room seemed to be very warm all the time. There was underfloor heating on in the bathroom which never turned off. It all sounds great if it had have been mid winter. We booked a Junior Suite and although it had a lovely view, some of the curtains were torn and there was a constant dripping noise coming from the toilet. Large rather soulless hotel and view one enormous car park. As it was halloween it would have been nice if there had been some form of entertainment in the hotel. However that was the only negative if you can even call it that. There was alot of noise through out the night from other guests staying on the floor we were on, and this kept us awake. We had been advised by the taxi driver who dropped us to our hotel that there had been trouble earlier so didn't feel comfortable saying anything to our fellow guests. I understand this wasn't directly a fault of the Radisson but it did marr the experience for us. i didn like when the heaters were on it was to warm to warm and when we were out on the deck the staff ask use were we stayn here or just eatn it was like he didn trust use thats the fib i was getn and my hubbie. Twin room was quiet small for 2 people but as it was just an overnight stay this was not a problem. The bar was a little over priced at almost €15 for 2 gin & tonics!!. The beds were not that comfortable. We had no complaints and there was nothing about the hotel we disliked at all. Hotel let down badly by a complete lack of air-conditioning in the rooms. We had to request a fan. Parking spaces can be difficult to find in the evenings. Double room was cramped (attic type) not great if you are 6 ft tall. Ok if you are only 5ft. Fine for 1 night but claustrophobic after that. I really liked everything ...the bed was not the most comfortable of beds but apart from that ..... Concert on in hotel the night we stayed and we had trouble with parking the car. room needed updating = though clean it was old fashioned. liked everything aspect of the hotel. The only complaint we would have is the beds weren't very comfortable and the heat was a little to high... nothing, lovely hotel. The water in the pool was a bit chilly so we only used it once. We had a room where the paint was peeling off around the windows and the net curtain was torn. Also the remote control for the TV was sellotaped together. This to my mind is a bit shoddy and not what I'd expect for a 4 star hotel.

Elements Restaurant The 140-seater split-level restaurant's design incorporates elemental themes of water, fire, earth and air. The water theme is reflected in the illuminated oceanic themed glass panels, wave shaped room dividers and aqua marine upholstered dining chairs. The fire element is created through a central octagonal island hearth.
