The warm, friendly welcome from the excellent staff. The peaceful stress free location of the hotel. I have stayed at the hotel many times over the years and I have allways enjoyed my time there and been very sad to leave it. It maybe only a 3 star hotel but it certainly has 6 star staff. Excellent location just a minutes away from the ferry pier to central hk. All necessary shops and restaurants are very close. The beach and bbq zone is also right at your feet. Convenient breakfast, helpful staff and warm pool also add some value to this hotel.

The staff are very friendly and breakfast is excellent!. It was very close from HK airport, just 25 min by Taxi 150$, perfect for transit passengers, good transportation to Hongkong by ferry or bus via Tung Chung station, cable car abd Disneyland just 20 min away. Position of the hotel is excellent, espetialy at nights its looks beautifull, stuff is very helpful, comunication and transportation to Central Hong Kong was very easy to do. Location on beach, ideal for young children. Friendly laid back atmosphere. Far from glitzy Hong Kong Central. Large comfy bed. Lovely view of bay from room. The room had a wonderful sea view which was a bonus as it was described as having a mountain view. staff were very polite and friendly. The breakfast was always excellent delivered by friendly aand helpfulstaff. The scenic aspect was delighful and the hotel convenient. I loved the location only wished I was on holiday. Beautiful, peaceful but I would put it at 3 star not 4 star. Staff! Nice waterpool Good location to reach such touristic places like Big Budda, Disneland and some beaches. Since my last visit they finished updating some the rooms and it was a shame they did not leave a bath in a few of them for some of us who like to have a relax in one after a days work :-) Also in this day and age they should just include the internet wifi in the package price. Hardly any decent place charges for it now, those days are gone! Luckily for uk residents 3 doesn't charge you for roaming in hk now so I used 3g instead!. Not so many good restaurants around. Tired bathroom in need of renovation. Some of the decor in the room was in need of attention. Breakfast became predictable after 2 days with same choice without any variation. there was some aspects of the painting and decoration which coulod be improved. The distance, I was nof prepared for that kind of travel. It took me about 2 hours to get there by train and taxi, then it took only about 20 percent of the cost and shorter time by ferry that docks only 10mins away. No free wi-fi. The beach is good, but the sea is uliginous and filthy. No assistance with luggage or availability of luggage trolley to transfer luggage from the taxi drop off point to the hotel and back. there supposed to be direct taxi lead to resort.. none. Hard to take taxi from airport, only blue Taxi can take you there, Bus from AirPort only 5 times daily. Better to take ferry from Central ferry pier. Furniture and carpets are old. more info on the numerous hiking options nearby. Internet/ wifi is not free. had to pay for Internet. The buffet meal at the hotel was very expensive. Location. 100 had for internet. The restaurant service was very slow. Rooms on the third floor is old. internet wifi slow connection and bit too high price for that and active for only 2 hours per using. The toilet flush was bad. Extra bed in the room was a bit expensive. Have not free Wi Fi in the room!!!. alittle disappointed the swimming pool was empty. Management could ensure that housekeeping staff completed room servicing, pool staff did ground maintenance and provided pool towels (not bathroom whites), grounds were weeded and tennis court upgraded and restaurant staff were trained in all aspects of food and drink service. Tourism board could assist with maps of walks and activities in area. The hotel interior need to be remodel especially the bathroom. They are old inside. The carpet need to be changed. the room and hallway need to repainting and carpeting. Hard to get a taxi from the hotel to the airport. But 10 minutes to the bus station is easier if you prepare plenty of time. Only a couple buses to the airport. The staff is very stiff. The beakfast which is the same everyday gets you tired of it after three days. My friend's room got cleaned only twice a week although he told them again and again. My bathroom shower tap gave out only a trickle.Seems like the hotel didn't change anything in it since the 80's. The new management is too stiff and insisting on checkout time and other silly things that no other hotel imposes on its guests. Front office desk have no freedom to initiate a decision for 1 hour late checkout, etc..... I think some of the reservations spoil the old world charm. The breakfast buffet is a bit limited but OK. The hotel has old and new wings. Our room was in the former. We had to request for change of room because the closet and had a view to a untidy backyard. The second room was better but still with lots of little details not taken care of. Old washroom ceramics, walls crying for a retouch, lamp shades with water marks. The staff is uncooperative. They know english but speaks only for their benefit, once you ask any service they pretends that they don't understand english. Hospitality is totaly abscent. Even in hostels the hospitality is good. Rooms smells tobacco. Very noisy groups of tourists from mainland China. Physically, a bit shabby. Tattered old carpets, walls that could with a clean. The place could do with a facelift. Bathroom a little grim, room smelled of smoke and windows didn't open. The bathroom is wornout and the carpet is dirty. Breakfast buffet was just very basic but good. No wireless access - fees for wireless were rather high. No free WiFi No Balcony No Conditioner in Shower and water pressure in shower to low Shower water not flow out fast enough. only partial of the room refurbished.
