This was our second stay in this hotel - the first one had been 15 years ago and we immediately loved both the hotel and its neighbourhood. When we decided to visit Athens again this year, there was not a doubt for a single moment that we would stay at the Exarchion Hotel again. The good impressions have only been strengthened after our second visit. The hotel has been renovated in the meantime, but its essence remained unchanged – the cosy, relaxed atmosphere which makes you feel very welcome .
all reviews » Very friendly staff. The owner of the hotel gave me a map and told which places worth visiting. Also he provided a lot of helpful information about the city. The rooms are relatively small but cozy. They were cleaned once a day. The towels were also changed on a daily basis. I was very pleased to find 2 teeth brushes and tooth paste in a bathroom. Air Condition system worked properly. Breakfast was good and substantial. Location is very convenient. It takes 20 min from the hotel to Acropolis . The best location for exploring Athens. Exarhion is a budget-friendly hotel, very comfortable, extra clean, fine breakfast, professional, polite and helpful staff! This hotel is convinient for all generations, solo travellers or families.The neibourhood is vibrant, full of energy and spirit, with a lot of nice bars, cafes, restaurants with decent prices and creative shops! During the night souraunding is pretty quiet so one could sleep well. We enjoyed staying there. The Exarchion Hotel enjoys a spectacular location in the center of Athens, not frequented by many tourists. This is how the real Atenians live. The hotel is an excellent budget hotel. Everyone on the staff is extremely friendly and nice! The rooms are kept very clean, and some of them (like mine) have spectacular view of the Lycabettus Hill.The breakfast is very basic, but constantly kept full! Especially keeping in mind the price, this is an excellent hotel!. Well located near the Archaeological Museum and within reasonable walking distance to the train stations, main Athens sights and the city centre. The area appears a bit dodgy (graffiti everywhere) and run down, but there are cool restaurants close by and people are very helpful. Breakfast is typical Greek (bread, jam, cheese, eggs, ham, coffee, apples and juice) and is adequate for the price. Staff helpful with sightseeing. Good value. Outstanding value for money, I stayed there for just one night but it was quite good. The staff was very helpful, and pointed out the different sights to see and how to get there, good and economic places to eat and also nearby areas to just walk around and have a good time. The hotel is located at Exarchia, quite lively in the evenings and has good cafes and traditional restaurants nearby. In all a great value for money. This place was great! The staff was more than helpful. I was traveling alone and both managers made sure to look after me. I couldn't have felt more safe. The neighborhood looks a bit scary - but only at first glance. It is surrounded by restaurants and tabernas so there is quite a bit of hustle and bustle. I actually had to stay a few extra days and they made room for me. I will for sure stay here again!!. very friendly reception desk and all the other personnel. the hotel is close to the university, 15 min to Sintagma and 20 min to Plaka. The surroundings are not dangerous (like at Omonia). There are many cafes, markets, etc. the breakfast is ok, except for the juice which was artificial. The rooms are excellent for the price provided (36 euros for 2 p. with breakfast!). The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is good, to the next metro station you have to walk 5 minutes. We didn't feel insecure during the night and also late returns weren't a problem. There are bars around the hotel and of course, during the night there were people sitting in and around the bars, drinking some glasses and enjoying the night out. Everything was great. This hotel is located in a nice alive area of Athens, with nice coffee shops, restaurant and shops close to the center of Athens. A bit of noise from the street at night, especially from bars and clubs on Friday and Saturday. Top floor (6) is best. Bathroom sewage smells. Wifi was sometimes spotty but only at night. Nothing else I can complain about!. the rooms could have been decorated a bit to have more home look. A little bit hard to find the first day. It would be nice a curtain in the shower or best a class curtain, there is space I think. Nothing. Perfect value for the money. For someone who stays at the hotel for several days, it would have been nice if there were some changes in the breakfast menu. A possibility for hotel lunch/restaurant would have also been nice, although open restaurant aren't hard to find even on Sundays (and there's a fast food place right next to the hotel door). Graffiti over all the buildings in the streets nearby, but that seemed to be the same all over Athens. Breakfast was good, but not varied. Little noisy neighbourhood,little space in shower. Nothing it was all good. Small bathroom. Nothing. the breakfast is always the same. I personally do not care but because of all the cafes, bars it is a little noisy at night until 12, 1 am. -bohemian area - VERY small elevator. - couldn't connect with the WiFi. The walk from the metro is not a problem unless you have suitcases a taxi from the metro to the hotel is about 3 euro. little noise, but ok. It is a little far away from metro, about 10 minutes on foot. However, it is near to the buziness zone. street noise goes on all night, but expected it due to nature of the area. better soundproofing maybe an answer. the location appears a little dodgy at first. Late night noise(but earplugs solved it). Breakfast poor, but not a serious problem. Noise from local bars until late into night. Graffiti Bands of police everywhere. we found a big roach in the room and then had to move to a lower floor which was noisier.
