Excellent location, within walking distance of many places of interest. Stasi exhibition, Topography of Terror, Checkpoint Charlie, all in the immediate vicinity. Can walk to Brandenburg Gate/Unter Den Linden which we did with 2 young children and kids Grandmother. Stadmitte U Bahn also very close. We only had breakfast on the last day in the hotel which was nice, reasonable enough price of 10 euro. Rooms on the small side but we literally were out all day and were only looking for a place to p.
all reviews » Clean, comfy beds, quiet location but only minutes away from fantastic Christamas market at Gendarme Market. Good mix of clientel young, kids, mature, business etc. Checkpoint Charlie about 200yds away. Amazing chocolate shop around corner. Staff were friendly and always helpful. The breakfast was one of the best I've ever had, great choice. Healthy fruit and cereals to bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs. Ham, cheeses croissants, smoked salmon, toast, cakes etc. etc. Great location. Lisa helped . Absolutely everything. Everybody was so nice and willing to help no matter how stupid my questions were:). The hotel is right in the center of the city so you don't even need the train ticket because you can simply walk everywhere. The room was very clean and breakfast was to die for :)! Design of the hotel is very modern. So when i go back to Berlin i am 100% staying at the same place!. The location was fabulous - within walking distance to most of the major sights (Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg Tor, Alexanderplatz, Potsdamer Platz, etc). For those sights that you can't walk to, it is easy to catch public transport. The staff was wonderful, especially the bar staff who seemed to enjoy their job, and their city. The central location of the hotel is a bonus, near to underground stations and also within easy walking distance of many sightseeing places.The hotel served a great breakfast with hot and cold foods on offer.Hotel located in a very quiet part of the Mitte but with some nice restaurants nearby. We found the staff very friendly and helpful, with one exception. This is a good base to explore the city being situated in the center of the city and convenient to Berlin transportation: U2 and U6 at Stadt Mitte station and bus connections on Leipziger Strasse (to get to Friedrichstrasse station during the U6 construction at Unter den Linden) are very close. The hotel is a block away from the main street so it is quiet. The hotel was excellent in everyway. The rooms were perfect and it was in a great location. The staff when I arrived were a bit 'standoffish', however they were young. However the staff I encountered for the rest of the stay with one chap spending time to show us the best places to go on the map! Funky colour scheme, love the free toiletries (Korres) and well set out room if a little short on storage. This Hotel had a great quiet location (Mauer Str means Wall St and the Berlin Wall ran right past this street), very close to Checkpoint Charlie and Freidrich Str. But take bus 147 from train station and get off at "stadtmitte". Then just several minutes walk to hotel. The other transportation is not as convenient as this 147 bus. Fresh, modern, clean design. Walking distance to most of the main sites (Gate Point Charlie, the Wall, Holocaust memorial, Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, site of Hitler's bunker) and only 2 minutes from hop-on-hop-off bus at Gate Point Charlie. Room has basically all you need: comfy bed, tv with one channel in English (CNN, if I'm not mistaken), nice fluffy towels. We were twice woken up in the early hours of the morning by some reveller shouting at the front door (we stayed over for 5 nights). Even though the room was quite large, with the minimal modern décor there is very little place to put anything, especially if you are staying for more than one night. Not applicable, it was great!. Window view- we had room with view to inner yard, many rooms had view to back yard. BUT IT's NO PROBLEM FOR US!!!:-))). Not a 'didn't like' more a 'would have been nice to have' more storage in the room. NO AIR CON! We struck a 34°C heat wave and the room was stifling... A consideration in summer. Accommodations were semi-spartan, but what can you expect for a 3star hotel? Not much storage space, with odd fixed hangers. Room and bathroom small but not a major problem - we fitted in with two largish bags ok. Would certainly not stop us returning to the hotel. All was great!. I couldn't adjust the temperature of the air condition, it was central. The room was too small, especially when you have many belongings in winter. The breakfast was very expensive. But the good point is that, very nice bakeries are available just around the Hotel. only tiny details like no slippers at the room which has carpets. Rooms are rather small, but very comfortable anyway. Also the lobby is small. Rooms a bit small. Beds are a bit stiff (a memory foam pad would help). Just a few minor points: The breakfast room was a bit crowded and chaotic on some mornings. The staff, while friendly, could have been more knowledgeable about the local area. Lack of shower door/curtain (water gets everywhere if you are not careful). My window faced a courtyard that echoed, so at times it was a little loud. Curtains in the rooms seemed a little light. I think some guests might have trouble sleeping with too much light in the room during summer months. Standard room is pretty small. I'd like to find kettle with choice of teas in the room - very nice to get a cup of tea at the end of long tourist day especially in the cold season. Would have been nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in our room. No AC in the rooms, Breakfast could be cheaper. I would love to have a kettle in the room or any other tea/coffee facilities. I din't have breakfast as 10 euros each was a bit over the top for what we could have eaten. I was to hot to sleep as no air conditioning available. Modern hotel style is a bit 'plastic'. The room we stayed in was a little bit noisy in the early morning. Nothing special, though. We didn't opt for the breakfast but it was advertised at 15 Euros, which I thought was very expensive. there is no air conditioning (same as basically everywhere in Berlin...) so if you travel in summertime, it can get quite hot in the room!. Wifi didn't work and the housekeepers knock on the door quite early. Negatives were the beds are uncomfortable which didn't help my sore back and we were there in winter and the shower/toilet room didn't appear to have a radiator in it!. Other than the tourist sites nearby and a few coffee shops, there isn't a great range of bars and restaurants close by. We had to get public transport to different areas of the city to eat. No refrigerator in the room and no closet space. There is no wardrobe in the rooms, only shelfs and racks. No minibar and laundry service (I didn't asked the reception, but there's no laundry bags in the room). Breakfast is good however above normal cost. Plenty of opportunities for breakfast close to the hotel. No hooks in bathroom to hang clothes or towels off floor which could get wet when showering. Could have done with hooks for coats inside main bedroom door as they got very wet and I didn't like to hang them with dry clothes on hangers provided. At the end of our stay as we were checking out and one staff member said to the other staff member in German if we speak German, the other staff member said no, so the first staff member said "oh Good" in German and began to speak and laugh in German. nothing!. The lighting in the room was very poor and there was no mirror at the dressing table. We stayed here twice. The room temperature was very comfortable the first time with a nice breeze but the second stay we had warmer weather. The room windows don't open all the way for safety reasons and it has no air-conditioning. We opened the door to the hallway for 5min which helped cool it down. Slow wireless. I hope we could have a kettle in the room, in fact most travelers from outside the Europe are used to drinking boiled hot water.
