Right away the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had bikes with us and were nervous to leave them. But after they explained how the secure lock up for the bikes works and how many guests use the service, we had no problem with the "valet" service. The room was clean and comfortable with a mini fridge and a bed that makes me want to replace the one at home. After a big day of biking it was quite nice to jump in the hot tub to unwind. all reviews » We loved staying at Aava! The best value-for-money that we got during all of our trips in the US and Canada. The hotel is very close to the village stroll, the shopping area, the grocery store, restaurants and the main lifts are in 5-10 min walking distance. The staff was very friendly and the room was bigger than we expected. The young man (sorry, I didn't catch his name but he had long hair and had been on the Broken Island kayak trip this summer) that checked me in was very professional in the most friendly, warm, and helpful way. I think he is destined for great things! Always impressed to see such wonderful qualities in young people. Great location, close to the village without being in the village so nice and quiet. Staff really helpful, especially Hartman, who offered great advice and excellent tips! Clean, comfortable, good facilities and helpful staff. Perfect for me. My only criticism is that I wish I'd stayed longer!!. Parking may have been an issue in a busier season. nothing stands out as being negative. Construction of the rooms. walls were very thin noise from the hallway was significant. But what can you do!. The bath water runs strong, but the shower is weak. The taps in the hotel bathroom shower were a bad design as you had to be blasted with ice cold water before it turned to hot. The walls are thin and you can hear people talking in the other hotel rooms. The reception had a bad smell on the day we arrived - seemed to disappear after that though. Breakfast should be included in room rate or the discount cards for White Spot should be mentioned at check-in, I only knew to ask about these by reading past reviews. Nothing. Nothing bad to say about this place but, to improve it a little bit more Chanel's on tv would be nice and longer hours for pool, hot tub and sauna.And the parking,if you guys can mach the price from the public parkade (10$) then we can keep our cars in the hotel parkade. Nothing. the king bed was wide but not long and therefore not suited for a tall person I did not like the black cups for morning coffee a second mirror in the room would be great. The walls were thin so we could hear people in the hallways. Although they were pet friendly they did not provide bowls or a bed for our dog which I think most hotels do in Whistler. The king size bed that we slept on has uneven spring. The middle is higher and the side has lower spring. It is time to change the mattress. The only minor thing I did not like is that there was no microwave in my room.i had to eat my cold leftovers in the morning. I didn't like the noise level of the other guests. Our initial room had an ajoining door and we could completely hear the other guests. Our second room had no hot water in the shower. small pool. Can't really say that there was anything that we didn't like. The doors inside the room (ie bathroom door and closet doors) it took away from the "luxurious" look of the room. I booked a deluxe long suite and the room I got just had a king bed with and aweful view. Nothing like the picture. My view was a tree and the boiler room. I don't think I got the room I booked because the bath and shower was tiny and in the picture it looked amazing and completely different. Didn't notice, but maybe offering a continental breakfast or something similar. No bar. Our key didn't work the next day..they didn't explain why...it was a little inconvence..had to go to the front desk... size of the room, pretty small but manageable. Staff did not explain food options at or near the hotel. Noisey air conditioning unit in rooms. housekeeping calling around 1-2pm each day when I was napping (privacy sign was on door). However, I appreciate they were double checking if I required service. paying extra for carpark.
