I appreciated the warm welcome at the reception. I was in the Gold Lounge and had some excellent facilities like wifi, breakfast, books and newspapers. The room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The staff was very courteous. I needed a specific type of tea which was supplied immediately. The location was excellent for my conference and quick shopping and cafes. This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The every one of the staff members were incredibly friendly, the valet, front desk, even the janitor! The location is amazing. You're right downtown Ottawa, parliament hill is right next door, the byward market is a 2 minute walk away and you're also right by the rideau mall and numerous museums.

The architecture and history of the hotel. The staff were very friendly. My husband slightly injured his foot during our trip and our room attendant was very helpful, inquiring about his well-being and bringing him an ice pack. The complimentary upgrade was very nice as well and the staff in the Gold Lounge were great!. I loved the location and granduer of the hotel. Our room was spacious and the king size bed a perfect luxury. We had a courtyard view which was ugly if you looked down but beautiful if you looked across to the other wing on the hotel. Loe the cocktails and music in Zoe'S. The staff made us feel very welcome and special. First time for us at the Château Laurier. The staff were incredibly friendly. They treated my two girls like princesses. The room was very spacious and clean and had a wonderful view of the Parliament buildings. The Afternoon Tea did not disappoint and my little princesses had a nice weekend away in a castle!. Lovely old world charm with the comfort of updated touches! Understated luxury with very tasteful touches of art and history blended with modernism! The staff are attentive but used to dealing with celebrities so they never intrude! A perfect ambience for romance, rest and relaxation or a business conference!. The Chateau Laurier is a great experience and like all Fairmont properties, the service is excellent. Staying here you feel immediately connected to Canadian history and glamour - but still have a great location for touring, shopping and anything else you may want as a contemporary traveller. Everything! It was gorgeous. We had a very spacious room with a large sitting area and amazing views of the Art Gallery and Parliament Hill. Most of all, the staff made us feel like VIPs every day! BTW, they have an iPad app that fully describes the major areas in the hotel...very good!. The hotel gave us a free room upgrade into a suite which was large and well maintained. The hotel's location couldn't be better for sight-seeing and gourmet dining in the By ward section of town. Walking the canals, the bridge to Quebec, and the Parliament grounds: all wonderful. Gorgeous, stately and luxurious - inside and out. I have stayed in many (and do love) Fairmont hotels in general; but this is one of my favourites! Perfect location, right beside the canal and down the street from the Parliament buldings. The gardens behind are quite lovely!. The hotel's location is simply perfect! Next to Rideau Canal Locks, Parliament and Rideau Shopping Center. The rooms are quite spacious and bed is very confortable. I could hear the people screaming in the other room next to mine. But stil an amazing hotel!!! :). Only problem both bathrooms extractor fans were not working and the TV was stuck to one channel ! If you are thirsty bring your own water! $9 a bottle in the room :-((. Not enough to spend in the art deco salt water hotel pool!. The valet parking for one night was with tax more than $50. A bit much. The room is a bit small compared to other hotel chains though it is still capable sleeping 2 adults with 2 young kids, but I'd prefer to larger rooms. The showerhead was extremely dated, but really, not an issue. We had absolutely nothing to make a complaint about. Wi-Fi ought to be universally available to all guests at no additional cost. The rate charged was outrageous - $13.95/day!. Not enough drawers. The parking. Garage is dreary and poorly lit. Stay was too short. Next trip would be much longer. Breakfast buffet mediocre Parking card didn't work. That I didn't have more days to stay there. The only thing to wrap ones head around is the cost. This is not the end of the world and one gets what one pays for. There was one young woman with an attitude when we checked in, we did not get the view we requested and the parking was hard to figure out initially: needs better signage. I wish we were able to stay for a second night !!. Narrow range (very high end) of food services. Rather dark and gloomy halls. The room was clean but more effort should be made to vacuum not just what you see, but also what you don't see. The wifi quality is weak. I was very surprised at how much we could hear the other people in adjacent rooms. This is why I rated comfort only as good and not excellent. have to pay the expensive parking not even a complimentary water in the room internet is 15$. Cost of in room services (minibar / water), view (inside courtyard) and the square bath (couldn't lie down). Having to pay for wifi in a luxury hotel these days is ridiculous; it's like adding on a charge for electricity. Basin side was scuffed and paint peeling when viewed from the bath, and the bath itself had four straight sides so no chance at all of reclining comfortably. Management should test drive the baths by sitting in them! Bar menu overpriced and unvaried. n/a. Wifi wasn't free, it was very expensive. Nowdays in that hotel's level you expect to have it for the price you are paying. Nothing it was amazing. The conference area is dark, perhaps seen better days.
