Re-opening in June 2016 after extensive renovations, the Mercure Hotel Raphael Wien is located directly opposite the Raimund Theatre and just 450 metres from the Westbahnhof Train Station and the Mariahilfer Straße shopping street. It offers free WiFi and spacious, air-conditioned rooms. Cable TV, a seating area, and a bright bathroom with hairdryer are standard in all rooms. Many shops and restaurants are close by. Vienna’s city centre can be reached by underground in just 10 minutes from Westbahnhof Station or Gumpendorfer Straße Underground Station, which is 350 metres away. Tram lines 6 and 18 are also within 350 metres.

The hotel was in a good location, a short walk to the u-bahn and close a huge shopping strip. You can also walk to the main sites of Vienna which we did as the weather was lovely on our visit. The room itself was clean, the bathroom was spacious. The breakfast had a good variety of foods. The street the hotel is on is quiet, though the theatre across the street had closed for summer. Clean and friendly service through out with comfortable room and very clean and towels changed daily,although dining room and food with fresh orange juice ect looked very good indeed I can`t comment because we ate out. all reviews » Very clean and comfortable despite the oldness of furnishing. Large selection of breakfast was a plus. I had a mishap with my reservation but the staff were very helpful and smoothed all out without trouble. The extra credit card charge made because of my mistake were canceled without problem. Air conditioning was in full force, which was nice after a day with heat wave. The hotel is ideally located for tourist and visitors to Wien. The staff was attentive and did everything possible to ensure we had a good Stay. The rooms were nice size and comfortable-exceptional house-keeping. Breakfast was superior! The selections and variety of items on the menu were outstanding. I would stay here again and recommend it to my friends. Hotel was comfortable, had a slightly 70's vibe to it, but in a nice way. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and of good size. Staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast was with good variety and fresh. Parking was quite easy to find on the street near hotel. Near to main shopping areas. Would stay again when in Vienna. Staff very friendly and multilingual. Location is good close to Wien Westbahnhof. I really liked the location. Just be aware that the car-park entrance is narrow and curves down steeply. It was tricky to navigate. The distance from Westbahnhof is a bit far. It's one tram stop away from Westbahnhof. On site parking is treacherous! Park on the street or in a nearby park platz. It was quite warm while we were there, but the Air conditioning was never turned on..No satisfactory explanation was provided.. Plug in basin not working and because of weekend, no plumbers available, or they didn't want to pay high rates to fix it. Luckily we figured out how to unplug it and didn't use it thereafter. I suggest more lighting and more power outlets as everyone has mobile phones, electric toothbrushes, computers, shavers etc., and with only 2 plugs, it was not enough. The staff is not very polite, especially the ladies. The room key is periodically demagnetized and I had to go to the front desk where the lady refused to magnetize the key because she now makes the documents or moving into rooms a new group of guests. - very tiny underground parking (not suitable for SUVs), ask before you try to enter, otherwise you might end up with scratches on your car in better case. Expensive a little. Proximity to the red light district. Breakfast charge separeted and quite expensive. No complains. Only one elevator works,always wait long time. No newspapers available Rooms not very big. There were no Laundry facilities in the Hotel. The external company did provide the facilities , but that was costlier. Please set up a Laundry room in the Hotel from the future. Staff not coming back to make up the room later in the day after we went sightseeing. The air-conditioning didn't work. nothing bad... bit far from center, but transport was good. can not say. check in starts from 14:00 and this is very inconvenient. The metro station nearby, Gumpendorfer Straße, wasn't nice. Smell bad and people around there didn't look friendly. But the environment around the hotel was fine and quiet. Old facility and a little bit away from heart of city - not too bad if you enjoy a walk. breakfast overpriced. Nil. Breakfast is expensive! 12 eur !;(. nothing. NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU ARE PARKING YOUR CAR IN THE HOTEL GARAGE. The drive down the curving ramp is OK, but getting out is a nightmare because it's difficult to get traction on the driveway climbing out!. The staff isnt very friendly.
