The Park Hyatt is the best hotel in Canberra -but is probably the most expensive! It is ideal for conservative people who appreciate the Art Deco design the history - and easy proximity to key attractions (old Parliament House, national gallery, portrait gallery). We loved the building and the ambience of the hotel, especially the art deco features. We particularly enjoyed the afternoon tea and its setting. The rooms were comfortable and the bathrooms spacious and luxurious. Staying at the Park Hyatt was a real treat.

Park Hyatt is well located for major attractions along King's Terrace and close to many fine restaurants. Also located close to Parliament House. It is quiet, the staff are friendly and heplful. A pleasant experience all round. Staff exceptional, porters, fronts staff all went out of their way to be extra helpful. Nice jazz band when we arrived on Friday evening. Fabulous bathroom. Comfortable bed. Good desk. Central location. Staff was very friendly & smiling, helpful & efficient. Food was excellent, high quality and reasonably priced. Relaxing live entertainment was really good too. The Hyatt in Canberra is full of old world charm, excellence in service and a delightful setting. A true 5 star Hotel experience .. why would you stay anywhere else. The design layout of the whole hotel, room fit out and comfort is excellent and all staff we had occasion to deal with were very warm , welcoming and efficient. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, the rooms are always spotless, it is always quiet and very comfortable, room service was quick and delicious,. Great architecture, interior design, art work on walls, large rooms and lovely bathroom and shower. Great venue, close to lake, easy meeting place to see friends. The staff in the resturants were good, but outside staff weren't. Location was good. Cannot think of anything. It is expensive to eat and drink there, but you know that will be the case anyway! It would be nice to be able to order a simple sandwich for lunch other than heavier meals on offer. But that's nit picking!. The only small criticism to level at the hotel was that our a la carte orders at breakfast were not filled properly or expediently. My mother order one poached egg on white toast and she was given two poached eggs with no toast. Also we were never given butter to go with our raisin toast which was cold when it arrived to the table. Now there is nothing worse than cold raisin toast. So breakfast was disappointing on both days that we ate at the hotel. The menus were a little restricted for vegetarians and non-existant for vegans. We were, however, able to 'cherry pick' from other choices, but it would be great if more specialised options were readily available. Restaurant in the middle seems noisy like a cafeteria and smelled of cooked fish. Yuck! Seemed really cheap. Also - $29 a day for wifi access is just rude and old fashioned. The weather!. They had to ask at reception if I was a gold passport holder, the room was too hot and then airless when a/c was switched off, the balcony door did not open, breakfast is over-priced. Food and Beverage Rather run down appearance of the restaurant and bar. However, it would not deter me from staying again at the hotel as there are now many fine restaurants in Canberra from which to choose. Nothing!. Extortionate internet connection fees - really, this is the 21st century!. nothing. No top sheet on the beautifully, comfortable bed, which necessitated turning the airconditioner on to make the room cool enough for the doona. Nothing major. Strong smell of food on way to bedroom not ideal. The room I stayed in was comfortable but a lot of noise from the plumbing next door. Nothing. dining room to crowded, doesn't suit to a 5 star hotel. internet access to expensive 29 AUD a day. Confusion in the breakfast arrangements. restaurant overpriced ,not much choice. Check in! Did not have booking, waited 2 hours to get one room, 3 hours to get second room, hours to get cot, someone else's luggage in 2nd room. Ordered two glasses of Moët, and it wasn't! Mucked up dinner booking location. Reception staff were of a very poor standard. Rude staff, no value for money after paying for club room. Newspapers not delivered, no cooked breakfast, canapés poor quality. Noise in room 262 , loud water noise woke us on many occasions. Confusing to get to rooms, no help in getting directions to rooms.
