The staff were very friendly and were more than happy to hold our bags until we flew out later that day. They also provided us with a map with things to do while staying in Canberra. The room had everything we needed on our budget and was close to the event which we travelled to be a part of. Being allowed to return to the hotel for a shower post-event is a service only Forrest H&A have been happy to provide me with (out of half a dozen other trips around aus). Will return again a 3rd time .
all reviews » Compact, clean, one-bedroom apartment with all the amenities - dishwasher, washing-machine, coffee maker (pods provided). Excellent location so close to Manuka. Despite the fact that our apartment was around the corner from the main building, room service was available (although we didn't try it). Extras included abundant parking, and a lovely outside grassed area. The hotel also offers gym usage for a fee at Rydges just down the road. Staff were very friendly, room was spaceous, quiet and had a large TV. Room was clean and bed was comfy. We had a BBQ in the communal gardens at the back which was great and locationaaly, the motel is within easy walking distance of bars and restaurants just along the road. There is Also a large Coles within a 10 min walk. Was realty pleased with our hotel room even though I had thought it was an Appartment when I booked. This meant we had to buy meals which we had not counted on. Facilities were excellent although the bed and pillows were a too firm for our liking . Overall I would stay there again due to excellent central location. Staff were fantastic - friendly & helpful - which is more important than anything else. The big tv was a real surprise. It was a simple stay, but comfortable & friendly - good for the price. Close to Manuka was good too. The free internet was also a very nice surprise, thankyou. I liked the whole place. It is an older style building but spotlessly clean. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment from a room for 3 and were very comfortable.Excellant Barbeque area outside and I would thoroughlty recommend it to anybody looking for accomodation in Canberra. Very quiet despite being less than 1km from Parliament House and surrounding roads. Staff very promptly looked after a couple of minor things, and also rang us to say we had left items in room. Heard hot air balloons overhead in the morning. Very leafy and well kept surrounds. The staff were super friendly and after an all night drive were very helpful and happy to let us in several hours before usual check in time. Check in and out was quick and easy. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Beautiful views at night and in a nice street. The room was clean, fresh and quiet even though on a major road. With opening windows for a hot day and big cooling trees we did not use air conditioner. A comfortable bed and parking close to room made for a pleasant 1 night stay. I loved the fact that I booked the wrong date for our stay, when I got to the hotel the lady said I was a month too early. She was brilliant about it and found us a free upgrade and fitted us in. Galleries, Parl't Houses and High Court are all nearby 'must do's'. The staff again, were courteous, helpful and pleasant. The rooms are very clean if showing their age and it is a great location to walk to several public buildings especially the art galleries. close vicinity to the main cultural attractions of the city, the quietness and beautiful plantings and trees. We had a downstairs unit which was quite comfortable and we really liked having a walk in shower. We also liked that the units were close to the shops, eateries, and to our sporting venue. The place was very comfortable for a family of 4 or 5. It was also very convenient as it was close to the shops and the city. Will definitely be back to stay there again. Value for money. It was within walking distance of the restaurants in Manuka. The apartment had everything we needed for our stay. Very well located for both business and tourist activities. Shower rose was probably the worst shower I've ever had, including camping. Weak pressure & going in all directions. Little hard to find down that dark street at night. A sign would be good but maybe Council prohibits. Nothing. We were so pleased with the service and staff. Only negative was our apartment bedrooms were adjacent to tennis courts. These were in use from 6:30am - so no chance of a restful sleep in!!. Nothing really. It was a very good apartment. Internet charges. When you can get free wifi in the room in the most modest and out of the way places elsewhere in the world, I think Forrest Hotel is a bit behind the times to be charging. The shower in Apt 112 was very difficult to adjust to stable temperature. Aside from the very real risk of being burnt, an awful lot of good clean water went down the drain while trying. First floor, narrow steps tricky for carrying baggage. Room adequate but rather cramped with no room for an easy chair. lots of mozzies waiting outside the door ready to pounce because of the weather, not the hotels fault. Canberra has matured a lot since last visit 25 years ago. A city vibrancy which wasn't there last time. Nothing. Nothing!. The hot water was a real problem... had a mind of its own. Also, the shelving inside the door of the fridge was non existent so nothing could be stored there. We stayed for five days so it would have good if cleaning was done every two days as well as replenishing the milk, tea and coffee etc. The milk supplied in the fridge was frozen and the bedside lights were inadequate for reading (not bright enough). Nope, all good. Awoken at 0530 by two very talkative neighbors on early checkout. Can't help that sort if thing though. Room was very small. More rooms than parking spaces .. I had to park out in the street on the 2nd night. Curtains didn't quite block out the very bright external night lighting. Parking spaces are very narrow. We arrived on Good Friday and could not find anything open to obtain a meal. The in-house restaurant buffet was recommended by staff as suitable for vegetarians, but we felt that $72 for two people to have some salad was poor value. No potatoes, no rice, no pasta, no legumes nor eggs. The apartment was tired and in a desperate need of a do up. The bathroom sink was at least 40 years old, and the textured ceilings were tired and dirty. Some attempt had been made to improve it, but it needed a total refit. Room was a bit spartan in appearance. Needs some minor maintenance as its age begins to show. When you first arrive it seems that you might be in for a bit of a let-down, only because the block where the units are is very sixties red brick, but once inside it is just wonderful. The excessive colour of the tv picture , which was " locked in". 1. There is no soundproofing so it is very noisy if other guests stay up late and the staff begin clanging around with their equipment early in the morning. (Unfortunately there was also some drilling happening in some of the rooms when I was there.) 2. Wifi is not free. 3. I have never been asked to pay ($25 to stay until 11am) for a late checkout before. 4. My radio stayed on low volume even when I switched it off. Nothing, we liked everything. Chairs under the bench were too low - - need higher stools or similar. No convenient shelf storage for toiletries in bathroom. Parking sometimes difficult. Shower could do with some water pressure,daughter had to wash her hair in the bathroom basin. Little bit dated but still good. Maybe Continental breakfast could be made available until 10:00am.
