Location is close to city centre and Lake Burley Griffin. If the weather is fine, it's only a short walk to city centre whilst the Lake is just across the main road with crossing via a walkway. Main sites are easily reached. We travelled by taxi as the weather was inclement and we had light luggage which wechecked into the sites we visited. An excellent restaurant is in the same building and is frequented by many locals as well as house guests. If we return to Canberra, then this place would be.

Beautifully appointed room and bathroom. Fantastic location, with excellent dining options in the hotel and nearby (and artisan bakery is next door). I arrived early expecting a check in time of 3pm, but was told that my room was ready and I could go ahead and check in at once. Brilliant! The room was on the small side as other reviewers have mentioned but it is a boutique hotel and I loved it. The bed was super comfortable. The shower was lovely. I had a tremendous stay. The room was absolutely quiet, the bed very comfortable. I slept like a log until the alarm went off! And there were plenty of lights - often on business I'm frustrated by lack of lighting, but this room was great. bathroom was AWESOME! Quality of restaurant food was really good, but a limited menu. The hotel presented very well & had a nice relaxing feel about it. It wasn't a big high rise complex but a lovely boutique hotel. The room was very comfortable with a lovely bathroom. Great restaurant, bar & outdoor eating courtyard. Would have liked to have enough time to try the spa. the unique layout of the hotel based on an old public service facility....the linking of the spaces between the buildings, the quality of the design is a complement to the guest....you have looked after us by providing a beautiful, thoughtful environment for the needs of the traveller. The staff responded to my request immediately and very politely - I couldn't open the electronic fridge! And even after 3 days I still hadn't completely worked out the ground floor plan so trying to find the bar kept me occupied for hours!. Hotel & room design was cool. I also had some friends staying in a suite in the high rise and their room was fantastic. I would've liked to have had an opportunity to stay longer and sample the restaurant. Bar was very nice also!. The hotel's Italian restaurant served excellent food and wine and the staff were very friendly. I would also highly recommend A.baker, where breakfast was served, and the hotel breakfast is generous with several options. The location is central, local cafes excellent, bed very comfortable, decor warm and contemporary and staff helpful and friendly. We didnt eat at the restaurant but the bar is cosy. I liked the convenience of where the hotel was as to the airport and the civic centre. Your staff were extremely kind and courteous to me and always had a smile on their faces. We felt welcome here right from the start. The renovation is cutting- edge but not cold. The Italian restaurant onsite was excellent - the best pizza I've had since New York. The problem with the design was that they hid the light switches. Sliding doors or a relocation of the switches would solve the problem. There isn't much to complain about here! One minor matter was the toilet paper, which was awful (and very odd for a hotel which is otherwise very good on attention to detail). Minor minor complaint. The room service menu after 10pm is not that vegetarian friendly. If you don't care for a cheese platter or fruit salad for a late evening supper then you are out of luck. As a result I had to attack the pricey mini bar for sustenance. Why is mini bar food so expensive?. Restaurant was mostly pizza/pasta - a bit limiting. I used the gym each morning & had a car park. It would have been much more convenient to have these on site. I also came back late on the Friday & Saturday night & since I was travelling on my own I did feel vulnerable making my way back to my room from the car park. there was nothing not to like. The bed was a little soft. The $65 parking fee was a bit steep!. The room was small for a Queen and there was no docking station. The hotel also took almost a week to clear the $333 they had frozen on my credit card. Poor layout of bathroom - tightly spaced so that the door got in the way all the time. TV mounted at an awkward angle on the wall. I hated the freezing cold bathroom. To keep my bedroom warm I had to completely shut the bathroom door. The toilet seat was freezing cold the entire time I was in the room as was the whole bathroom. I put the air conditioning temperature up but this did not affect the temperature in the bathroom. The bathoom looked fab, but cold isn't descriptive enough. And that was mid-June. I dread to think what the temperature would be when you stepped in the shower in August. Although the beds very very comfortable a full doona was unnecessary and a blanket was not available as an option. The bar and dining room were very expensive - more expensive than normal restaurant prices. The mini bar system that automatically charges if any item is moved. Two bottles of wine were charged to our bill which were only moved so we could plug in the kettle. In the hotels favour there was no issue in getting the charges removed. The mini bar setup - pay as you go. While the staff quickly emptied the fridge for our own bits and pieces - I am not a fan of this system. Bit pricey for one night I thought. The neighbouring room at 4.00am (Sat) - but it was out of your control. Felt that the bathroom was always too cold to make the most of the large bath. Also couldn't have the blinds open because of the workmen outside. The breakfast was ok, but quality modest, E.G. bread was dry etc. Dark hallways. Dark paint in the room. Dimly lit bedroom. Very small wardrobe. Hotel restaurant poor, service bad, & cooking smells from the kitchen. Cleanliness on arrival, dirty kitchen. Someone senior needs to check the rooms and ensure that a high standard is maintained as the establishment suggests. Bed was a bit soft. Cold bathroom - no heating whatsoever!. No real negatives. Difficult to find room due to layout. Windows in room unable to be opened. Prices of mini bar items. No where to hang wet towels/bathmat - only one night so not a great problem but not eco friendly for longer stays and water splashed out from shower. Nothing. Room was very dark. Nothing everything was perfect thank you. A make-up mirror in the bathroom would be useful. Provide better quality loo paper. Lack of free secure parking. The rooms are very cold, especially the bathrooms. There is nowhere to hang your towels. Quite expensive. inability to open a window. Not enough room in the bathroom to place toiletries/cosmetics. We have stayed a few times and there are signs is wear and tear in the rooms which is a pity cause it is a very cute place. We were also woken up both mornings by very loud workmen outside our window . not fully equiped kitchen.
