  Magnificent view of caldera and sunsets, as described. Upon arrival were surprised to have a suite with fridge and cooking facilities instead of only a double room with extra cot as ordered. This was very beneficial as we saved money on breakfasts and enjoyed hospitality on our balcony.   The hotel is absolutely incredible! And the manager was excellentperson. He invited us to a bottle of white wine to enjoy the sunset fromour incredible private terrace. The hotel is absolutely incredible. Theroom is decorated to detail, beatiful!! And we felt as at home!   The staff, especially the proprietress, were really helpful friendly and thoughtful. They all spoke good English. We immediately felt at home - among friends. Our room was pleasant, airy and had a view of the sea from its balcony. The hotel has wisely refrained from filling all its ground with accommodation and provides a calm oasis in which to re... vad folk säger » lax. We made good use of the tiny whitewashed traffic free streets (well apart from the occasional motorbike or mule train) that we accessed from the - Would recommend this hotel. Eva, the hostess is a wonderfully friendly and helpful person. We didn't arrive until midnight, she left us a welcome note and instructions about the key. She went so far as to make us a take-away breakfast when we had to leave to catch the midnight ferry. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is meticulously clean, and the beds are the softest I've experienced in Greece so far. The pool area is as good as any luxury hotel, and the outdoor gardens are lovely.

  Its all about the view so as you arrive and go thru the picture frame entrance its a wow feeling:) reception staff fabulous , friendly, helpful Great feel as Kavalari is built into the cliff. Amazing sitting on balcony it terrace at any time watching the view or lustening to the stillness or the donkey bells or the church bells. Just not worth the experience without it. People pay big money to eat at restaurants to get the same view you have from your hotel. Great staff that were nice and spoke English. Excellent continental breakfast. Reasonable price. Right in the mix of things near the golden road. They had air conditioning.

  Everything was great... We stayed 8 days in Fira and the hotel is perfectly located in the very centre of the town, close to everything. We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was simply amazing... The caldera view from the private terrace is stunning, and there is no need to move from the room to enjoy the sunset. The view only is worth every pen... vad folk säger » ny that you pay for the room, which is a nice room (especially the bathroom and the huge jacuzzi!!!) but definetely what makes it a 5 star hotel room - We stayed at the Honeymoon Suite (who says that you can only book those when you're on honeymoon ;), so the steps were not an issue (the lift goes almost all the way down to the suite). Other reasons to book this suite: Large terrace overlooking the caldera (probably one of the best terracces in Fira!), great big bed in its own little "cave" - and there is a whirlpool in the bathroom.   The location was absolutely stunning as you would expect if you stay on the Calderra. Right in the heart of Thira. The room which was very clean was also gorgeous and quirky which was brilliant. The owner was extremely helpful and very welcoming. For a small fee he picked us up from the port and took us to the airport..   Amazing location (although a little difficult to find) with an envious view! One of the best sunsets I had was from the porch of our room. The room is actually an apartment - very spacious and tastefully decorated. The host live in the same building and are very hospitable and extremely friendly.   The staff at the Phillipion were fantastic! Great service from everyone from the front desk,pool/bar staff to the cleaning staff. Nothing was a problem and any questions or problems were dealt with quickly. Breakfast was included and had a great selection and choice.   My husband and I spent 6 nigths at this hotel and we liked everything. Location is very convenient, near to Fira ( 5 minutes walking) but not too close to be noisy, in fact, the surroundings of the hotel were quiet and peaceful. Room was spacious and very clean.   John and his staff could not do enough for their guests. Everything about the Galatia Villas was a 10+, with beautifully appointed guest rooms and receptiont area. Each guest room had it's own perfectly tended garden. Guests have free computer use and there was a warm welcome at breakfast every day.We felt so at home and can't give high enough prai... vad folk säger » se for John, his staff, and the Galatia Villas. - Owner was wonderful. He drove to pick us up when we couldn't find the place. The room was huge for European standards, with full dining table and kitchen. There is a private courtyard in which the owner lights votive candles at night so you can enjoy the evening. Note that it is not a view property and you do have to walk up hill 8-10 minutes to town. Excellent value. I recommend it.
