I'm surprised it was only 2 stars. - I only stayed overnight for an early morning flight the next day so didn't use it as a holiday base, but I liked the quiet, convenient location.   Mare vista hotel, well you see the harbour, sea and all boats coming in. With 10 min walk to harbour you catch our boat easy. Buss station is about 20 min walk and buss to Knossos costs 3€ each person. 30 min walk and you are in old town. If you like beach, it is 15 min buss trip to east. Swimming in the city is not possible due all these harbours... vad folk säger » . - A good place near the port (10 minutes walk) and the airport (10 minutes by car) so it is comfortable to use it if you plan a flight or sailing next morning. There is some noise due to the airplanes but not too much. Nice view at the port. The room is rather simple but enough for the 1 night stay.

  Staff was very helpful. Facility was very clean and well-kept. Included breakfast buffet was good with variety. Grounds were beautiful with many flowers, mature trees and bushes. Room was quiet and comfortable.Pool area very attractive. Free wifi was a plus. - Position as we were in transit.

  The staff were polite, helpful, friendly, easy to understand, available - in short faultless. The hotel was very easy to find and very close to the airport, we just needed a place to stay the night before an early morning flight. The room had a refrigerator we could use, the room was tidy, and the building felt historic yet clean. It was a very ni - Staff is friendly, and working hard to improve what was previously a neglected property. Attached restaurant is good, which is important since there are not many alternatives. This is the closest hotel to the Iraklion airport (but not walking distance), for those flying in or out. Pool is clean and refreshing.
