  First of all Aspros Potamos is a really wonderful place to stay. We stayed there for 8 days and really enjoyed the peace and quit in the valley of Aspros Potamos. The beach and the village of Makry Gialos are about a 15 minute walk via a small road through olivetrees and small vegetable gardens. The facilities are good, normal shower (very tiny stream), - We stayed for 8 days at Aspros Potamos and we loved it! Really where we were looking for, something different, in nature, with a lot of silence and calmness. Birds singing all day long, the sound of the river and reading a book. On the other hand there a plenty things to do, walking to the beach, restaurants and shops in 15 minutes or walking the Pefki gorge.   Paradise! Fabulous clean traditional Cretan houses in a great location slightly away from the town of Makry Gialos. Wonderful beaches close by (with excellent snorkelling) and lots of great restaurants just a short drive away. Makry Gialos is a very nice small town and the road network around is very good so day trips with a rental car are very easy. Costas and his father - The place to be ! The biggest asset of ville de soleil is the owner Costas, he is super friendly, helpfull and his service is above any level I have ever seen before. He called us the day before to ask if we needed assistance to get there, I arrived with a broken gearbox, he started calling around and my car was fixed a few hours later, he has shown us areas to visit we would never have found ourselves, we had a couple of nice evening discussions and drinks...   De eigenares, een intelligente vrouw, is erg attent en aardig. De accommodatie, een maisonnette in ons geval, was fantastisch. Zeer groot, schoon, gezellig, compleet ingericht met op beide etages een goed werkende airconditioning! Ruim balkon/dakterras en mogelijkheid om wat wasgoed op te hangen. Ook geschikt om lange periode te verblijven. Quiet location and close to beach- 2 mins. walk Generally if looking for a quiet stress free environment then Palmyra fits the bill. - This is the fifth time we have stayed at Palmira Apartments, the last time being in 2008, and I am pleased to say that the high standards have been maintained. Manolis and Maria were very welcoming and helpful.

  Perfect location right on the beach. Very clean and well-equipped studios with efficient quiet air con, and free wifi. Maria, the owner, is warm and welcoming and goes out of her way to make sure you have a perfect holiday. Just got home from our second visit here and looking forward to our third next year.   helios studios is fantastic place.very clean, nice cretan furnitures.the highlight and worth mentioning is mrs despoina's hospitality. we were warmly greeted by mrs despoina upon our arrival at the apartments. she was unbelievable friendly and approachable,willing to give even a hand with suitcases. she had left for us fresh cake on the table alo... wat mensen zeggen » ng with chocolates and cretan alcohol beverage 'raci'. when leaving the apartments,she gave us again fresh warm cake to have it on our way back to her - We have never felt more welcome than in Helios. The owner, Despina, is incredibly sweet! In the clean, big apartement we found oranges, cookies and raki as a welcome gift. We parted as friends. Despina, thank you so much! PS Makry Gialos is perfect for families with younger children. The sea is calm and shallow. From Helios it's about 10 minutes walking (downhill) to the center of the village.
