I travel to NYC about 10 times a year. I have hotels at which I customarily stay, but this trip came up suddenly and everything was sold out or exorbitantly expensive. I found the Pearl based on two criteria -- it was not as expensive as some of the other hotels and it was highly ranked by both travelers and star ratings. I was very happy with my stay and will use the Pearl as one of my back-up hotels. I say "back-up" because it is not as conveniently located to the business I attend to wh.
all reviews » We loved everything about this hotel. There was always a doorman to open the door, and friendly staff at the desk to welcome us every time we returned to the hotel. The elevators were fast. The room was very comfortable, with high-quality furnishings. Loved the Keurig coffeemaker, and the tv in the bathroom. Enjoyed the free breakfasts, and there was always a New York Times available to read with our coffee. After a busy day of sightseeing, the "happy hour" was much appreciated; we would take o. "I have just arrived back from NYC today after a weeks mother and daughter trip. We spent the last two nights at The Pearl. All I can say is "FABULOUS". We were lucky enough to get a free room upgrade from a Queen to a King room. The hotel and the room were spotlessly clean. It's situated perfectly for everything, shopping, restaurants and theatres. We had tickets to see Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre which is practically next door. Breakfast was fine. I know some people have mentioned in ot. Everything! Rooms were spacious and everything was spotlessly clean. Staff were all very polite, friendly and helpful. Having breakfast included was a bonus and although some reviews say otherwise, we were always able to find seats, there were tables you could sit at if you didn,t like the more relaxed seating, and there was a nice choice of cereals, yoghurts, fruit, pastries and croissants, bagels, muffins ,toast (just no hot food, but we really didn't miss it as there was plenty of other choi. The Pearl is in a great location -walking distance from Times Square and major attractions, but without the noise! The staff are really friendly and helpful and the breakfast is great with fresh bagels and pastries, cereals, good coffee etc, to set you up for the day. Spacious rooms, with nice showers, comfy beds and great coffee machines. There is a fitness room which is great too. There is a bar attached to the hotel which we didn’t eat in but the restaurant looked lovely. We had drinks at. Stayed here for my boyfriends birthday. From the time we walked in we felt very welcome. The lobby is open and has a little lemon water stand which was very refreshing after walking all day. We received a complimentary bottle of wine for my boyfriends birthday. The room was awesome, we stayed in the King room with a Balcony. The shower was awesome, the bed was really comfortable and the room was spacious. The staff here is very accommodating, they held our luggage for us after checkout until we. The location in the heart of the theatre district and a short walk from Times Square was ideal for shows,shopping ,dining out and sight- seeing.Breakfast included was a bonus and saved time (and money) in the morning. This is virtually unheard of in ny as is free wi-fi!! The room was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The fridge and coffee/tea machine was great as, like most Brits we like a brew 1st. Upon advising the front desk we were moved to the correct room within minutes with a "we want your stay at the Pearl to be a good one" - believe me this kind of service is not common in nyc. The free internet service is also supreme. Breakfast had everything you'd need to start your day. Its not an English style full breakfast but has all the cereals, bagels, bread, jams, spreads, hard boiled. The Pearl is just fantastic! We were there for 11 days and enjoyed everything from the complimentary breakfast to the wine and cheese hour in the early evening. It is close to Times Square and the Theatre District as well as Restaurant Row. The staff is marvelous, so warm and helpful. Our anniversary was during our trip and there was a bottle of champagne and a card waiting for us, very thoughtful! The rooms are tasteful (amazing showers) and so quiet. Quaint little hotel in the middle of New York City. After a day of busy walking and shopping it was so nice to come home to this cute little boutique hotel. The attached restaurant is small and cozy. Comfortable, spacious room. It was spotless with no wear and tear, bedding was 5*.Bathroom was on the small side but very well appointed. The location is second to none, we were steps from a supermarket, subway, Times Square, Rockefeller centre, port authority and directly opposite to one of the best musicals on broadway at the moment. With Broadway and Times Square a short walk as well as subway stations located very close-by, the Pearl was an excellent choice for us. The Pearl is well located for shopping, theaters, fine and casual dinning and enjoying the city, with easy access to pharmacies, the train and to the nyc airports. Their people is their best asset. The complementary breakfast is good and the area is nice. Decoration is well balanced and relaxing. Price is competitive for the area, although in the higher end. Premium location near the shows we had come to NYC to see. Lovely lobby, superb staff, wonderful breakfast and large, luxurious rooms. We couldn't believe we were in NYC with the size of the rooms and the fabulous amenities: coffee maker, micro and fridge. We travelled with my senior parents and the staff made sure that they were well tended to at all times. Great location, walk to Time Square, short walk to Central Park and right in Broadway for seeing shows. The metro is the next block, so easy to get around New York. The room was really nice and clean, with coffee machine, fridge and nice bathroom. The daily breakfast was a bonus. Everywhere is expensive in Manhattan to stay, however this place is worth it. It's not a case of 'not liking' but our room was serviced to a very high standard and towels changed daily although we didn't place them in the bath to indicate change required. I think I paid a premium because it was marathon weekend - if it wasn't a special occasion I wouldn't have been happy to pay so much. Watch out for the standard taxes added to the bill when you pay (I think they're the same for all NYC hotels, but they add significantly to the cost!). Having to leave. Our robes went missing after a few days and I should have phoned housekeeping for some more but didn't. If I'd been with my husband the wardrobe closet would have been rather small!. It would be nice to have a coin operated laundry for longer stays like ours!!. All was good and nothing come to my attention that trouble me. I did not go for bfast but my daughter did and she said the food was not at all to our standards. Very poor quality of pastries and muffins. Also, though the hotel is very strict about not smoking, some of the guests in the hotel are smoking and the smell coming to the room is awful. I would have expected a better breakfast selection however having said that, what was available was enough to get us started for the day. Nothing. Except if I had to say something the shower pressure wasn't adequate but not the best we've had. Every floor will have rooms that are "too close" to the elevator. Well, my room (1201 -- probably the same for all the '01's) was practically in the elevator -- as I was reminded when, at midnight, a bunch of people came back from a fun night on the town. They came back very loudly, which is always a risk, but my room's proximity to the elevator couldn't have helped. For the first night we had a room on the back which was very noisy. We stayed for a week and found out when we checked out that the room had difference prices each day. It is a bit pricy. Breakfast was served with plastic plates and cutlery, this is incredible waste in these days. More choice for breakfast was wished, very limited choice. slight lack of seating for breakfast. Some of the door staff were a little aloof, I couldn't understand whether we had done something to offend them. Yes, we did tip. * We liked everything!. Disposable cutlery & cups at breakfast. Lot of unnecessary waste. Didn't think housekeeping did an appropriate job in keeping the bathroom as clean as could have been. Left trash on counter. The breakfast area was crowded if you went after 8 am. The look was very sleek and modern- but many of the chairs had very low backs so you couldn't sit back. The food selection was adequate but nothing unique or different- which is fine. Having to leave. Hotels in NYC Theater District, including The Pearl, are grossly over-priced. Except for this, we would visit the city much more frequently. There is nothing I didn't like about it. I will be staying there every time I go to New York .. A little disappointed in the plastic breakfast cutlery etc. Everything was perfect. There was nothing to not like. Can't complain at all. Is exaggerated price / value of the positions for a hotel very high. No kettle or mily for tea, just coffee machine.
