The whole design from reception stunning, the staff in reception were amazing. The lifts/hallways stunning. The rooms/bathrooms stunning. The roof top bar/pool absolutely stunning, loved the cabanas, little seating areas for different numbers of people, loved how the hotel catered for warm/cool weather. Loved the towel covers on the sun beds how they were continually changed as soon as not in use. The car park/porter staff fabulous, efficient and very professional. Fabulous hotel would stay he.
all reviews » Room was clean. Check in/out was quick. Location is excellent and safe, close to great restaurants like Bouchon and Spago, easily accessible (with a car) to places like Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Santa Monica, it just took us about 20 minutes to Downtown. There are also convenience stores and a couple of public parkings within walking distance from the hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful, it was very quick and easy to rent a car through the hotel. The hotel is located on a very good street for shopping and walking. It is also in the middle of pretty much everything so you're a short cab ride away from restaurants, clubs, famous places, etc. The hotel itself was very trendy and designed more contemporary but it was nice and comfortable. The staff was very nice and accommodating too!. The hotel and location was perfect. The staff were so great and very helpful. On site parking was good and not that expensive. Overall the price of the hotel I think was great value for the quality of the hotel and location. The pool and gym were great. We had a young child it was great for him too.We will stay there again. Thompson is well-groomed and stylish hotel from where I found the most friendly and proficient stuff (especially at the front desk) during the whole trip in California. Clean rooms, great rooftop pool and bar, nice restaurant on the ground floor. I would recommend this hotel and will stay again if I visit LA. The style of the hotel is a little over the top for me but it offers all the amemities you will need. Loved the location of this hotel. Its a rarity to be able to walk anywhere in LA but this hotel was within walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. The free Wifi in the lobby and by the pool does not work which makes one have to keep paying extra for just 24 hour access at a time; use Starbucks around the corner. Only two lifts which are painfully slow!. Nothing. Staff was having lots of 'technical' issues; beds were awfully hard - i'd prefer a Marriott bed any day; posh clientele. The reception staff can be brusque and treat people with reservations through letsbookhotel.com as sort of second class citizens. That lets down what is otherwise a pleasant experience. The bath towels are my only complaint. The system for renting cabanas and chairs poolside was rude and uncomfortable. We were asked to move twice because someone was welling to pay for the chairs we were sitting in. Then Serge said we could pay him for one cabana he had left available. It felt like a racket! I was up early and went up to the pool area to make sure we would have chairs and then lost them? Very rude. The lighting in the room was not good; the light next to the bed was way too bright. The lights in the bathroom were too dark as was the one in the hall. The price, no breakfast, the room was great but the hallways were a little messy and the elevators smelt pretty ordinary. Small fault but .pool area closed at 6 but sunset not till 8 . Would have loved to enjoy extra time up there was weather perfect . The lower roof area where Bar and dining area were situated remained accessible with attentive service and great food . rooms were a bit dark being over 50 but did not concern us that much but we would have spent more time at the pool and restuarant if our choice of beer was there. Paid for wifi but never worked. No free wifi. The hotel and our room was quite dark, but that is the only thing we had a problem with. Didn't like the wooden bases on the beds - bruised shins as a result. We had a door that joined our room to the next, which meant that our room wasn't as sound proof as it would be without the door. The food in the restaurant is not very good, but the clerk are very nice. There is a pretentious atmosphere within the hotel however this is likely to be down to the guests that stay there rather than the staff. It is Beverly Hills after all- what else would you expect!. I knocked my shin on the corner of the bed post and had to ice it.... Apparently that happens a lot so be careful. The rooms are a little dark, and food is a little expensive. Bathrooms are too dark. Women can't apply make up!. No free Internet access and the room looked a little bit tired and worn. The pool staff were a little less than great. The food was exceptionally bad. service at the pool was slow and twice we were asked to leave earlier than time posted for private partys and restricted in the evening twice for private partys. Parking charges for hotel guests. Bathroom was a bit small. I would rather have a shower than a bath tub. The 35 dollar parking was annoying, the valet and bell service pool the tips so no one unloaded my bags and rarely held/opened any doors. The front desk was all very friendly though. Rooftop pool was way too packed on Sunday and it was impossible to get served. Recommend going early on Sunday or just trying to go on weekdays. Wifi should be free. Poolside food menu was outrageously over priced. Cocktails and wines were more expensive than other establishments around. Light in the bathroom vanity was not working when I arrived (they fixed it on the second day, though) TV was hard to work (turn on turn off, get channels to come in clearly). Breakfast was mediocre and service was poor Slow taxi service. Bed is not so great. No free wifi in rooms, which is rare nowadays... It's a pity that such small things spoil the whole impression. The hotel is noisy, due to road noise -- depending upon where your room is -- and also the walls are thin so if you get a noisy neighbour in a nearby room you will be disturbed. Our room was on the 8th floor and we could hear the staff clonking around early in the morning and late at night on the floor above, setting up/closing down bar service, etc. Wi-fi not complimentary in rooms only in reception. Bed was uncomfortable. Hotel lobby was small. No coffee in room; Not enough menu offerings for late night room service. the lift in the hotel was so so slow some days. It is located in a very expensive area so not easy to pop to a local bar for a casual drink. The room service was also in my opinion overpriced with no many options.
