The room was immaculately clean and I can't honestly suggest how it could be improved. The room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. I will definitaly recommend it to friends and will definitely stay there again. Good choice of breakfast and self service and a real bonus of having hot plates. Excellent location, on a regular bus route into city area. Room ample size, comfortable( loved the easy chairs), clean and bright. We really enjoyed the breakfasts and the young manager was extremely friendly and helpful.
all reviews » we enjoyed our stay and there was a very good selection for the breakfast and there was also a very good selection of leaflets for places to visit the local buses were very good and the drivers were helpful. even if I had to take a taxi to the centre (taxis are of reasonable price) I liked to stay there. The weekend I was at Moorland house, it was quiet and a relaxed atmosphere. Excellent breakfast and great valve for money. Young manager very well organised and very helpful. Would certainly stay there again when visiting York. Staff really helpful and friendly, breakfast delicious. Ample parking spaces, room clean and comfortable. Would visit there again. friendly clean and tidy,basic but excellent value,food as good as expected (more sausages next time ; ) ).would def recomend. Not much. I had to park on the road because limited parking on site and the road is very narrow so had to park partly on the pavement. What we were not keen on was the very noisy extractor fan as it seemed to stay on too long after the light was switched of and the room was not quite big enough and the chairs were too low as we were quite tall but other wise it was quite a nice place to stay. In the on suite toilet the shower door did not close correctly and the towel rail and holder needed securing. nothing. Difficult to open the front door with one hand (struggling to think of a complaint). Walls where paper thin and youn could here evwrything the people above you did. Central heating on. Unable to regulate. A little bit too warm. Would be ok when cold outside. nothing. location was a little out of town for our liking. While staff were helpful and accommodating they were in short supply but this was probably due to the time of year. The bison is in the bedroom not in the bathroom with the shower and toilet, room 4. The shower slowly got hot than too hot and cut out for 5 minutes before welter started too reappeared. The bath towels are small but adequate. Breakfast time is 8.30 to 9.30. Cooked breakfast was precooked and left under hot lamps, not freshly cooked. No decaf coffee provided. Hardly saw the staff. Even at breakfast, the manager's father just walked through from time to time. Everything at breakfast including scrambled egg, tea, coffee etc, was serve-yourself, so it was a bit impersonal. Room was clean but dull, predominant colour was brown, bedcover, towels lampshades looked dingy but was actually well decorated The lampshades were dark paper that let light up and down but the rest of the room was in shadow, the two chairs were uncomfortable and too low and a slight musty smell in the bathroom, shower grouting needs work as does the tiled floor I don't think I will use this place again ,there are better for the money. Basic accommodation. buffet style breakfast, hot counter didn'T keep the food very warm, no choice of eggs. too far out of city centre even though we were told it was only 10min walk. Wash basin in bedroom(very inconvenient) lack of shelf space for toiletries, toilet bags etc. Slightly dated but ok if you just want a base. Very expensive £90 for 1 night in basic ,clean ,accomadation. completely self service so pretty charmless. Room was very small. Room was not serviced during our stay. Buffet breakfast was late both mornings. We had to wait for the dining room to be opened and then we sat and waited for the food to come out to the the buffet. Rather too far from City centre to walk. Bedside lights unplugged and one lacking a bulb. Rooms could do with decorating. I thought I was paying for bed and breakfast but in fact was room only. The description of room options etc while booking makes no mention that it was a room-only booking. Having searched for bed and breakfast on the site, read the description of breakfast and where it was served implied that i was booking a bed and breakfast room. Yes the confirmation says room only but throwing it in there isn't right. Was told on arrival that as I was leaving at 7.30am I could not have a cooked breakfast as they don't start cooking untill 8.30am,shower was not very clean. Rooms too small. No veiw. Sausages were nasty. Having to get the staff out of bed for breakfast at 8.35 breakfast is supposed to be 8.30 until 9.30 we did not get a cup of coffee until 9.05 and the guy was very sullen. Another guest left before it was ready very poor experience. Would definitely not recommend to anyone. Though reasonably clean the room was quite claustrophobic with no room for a desk and the Wi Fi access was virtually non- existent.
