Central location, the room was comfortable and clean, reception staff helpful. I would definitely use this hotel again. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Terrific breakfasts. Great to have its own car park. What a lovely place Oxford is!. The room had everything you need, it's clean and the views are pretty good. It's right in the centre of Oxford. The friendliness of staff who made one feel they were owners of a small, family, hotel.

The staff are friendly and the breakfast is fine. When I stay at Oxford, the weather is freezing , but when I come back to the hotel, it gives me a 'home' feeling with warm and comfortable environment. I'll stay at this hotel when I visit Oxford next time. The office staff especially Yvonne!. Location. The cost of 120 pounds was too much for me although the location is perfect. It was fashionable, the linen is really comfortable, I like the way the speaker from the telly is also lined to the bathroom so that you can enjoy the sounds when you are bathing. Also I like the view from the window, I could see the tower of a collage and foliage of the botanic garden.The location was very good as was the parking facility. The bathroom was very good and the bedroom spacious . We enjoyed the stay. Comfortable bed. smart hotel. I did not like the fact that online booking was much cheaper than direct with the hotel. I like consistency but then you must run the hotel whichever way you think best. Broadband didn't work in room, forgot to do wake up call. room window was blocked by a pile of building materials covered with a blue tarpaulin- unable to open window- it spoiled the view of the 3 overflowing Biffa bins and piles of refuse sacks- we were moved to another room.Sky news not one of the tv channels in my room, but cnn there twice. room was next to airconditioning vent so fairly noisy- but it was good value. Quite expensive - but Oxford seems to be an expensive City if you need to stay close to the centre. paying for breakfast seperately. The breakfast was rather over priced in my opinion, especially for a plated meal. Also there was no vegetarian option, as there is in most other hotel chains these days. I had the full English breakfast minus all the meat things, so not very full after all! Vegetarian sausages should be available and hash browns. Currently under refurbishment.Narrow entrance to car park, scrapped my car!. I found the mattress on the bed very soft compared to other hotels that I have stayed in and as a result I did not have a good night sleep.poor sound insulation. Had to step around found uncollected breakfast trays and tea pots, jugsetc along two corridors from 8pm until 11am next day. I could not get heat in my room. no record of my booking when I arrived. Our room was the smallest hotel room i have ever stayed in! This may reflect the price we payed, however !. The lazy male receptionist on duty when we arrived!did not pass on ourrequest re window in our room which we were unable to shut,which meantwe had to wait until after midnight for the night staff to sort out.Hishabit of resting his chin on his hand while talking to us etc gave thewrong attitude of not really caring.Also the room was tucked away besidethe linen cupboard,up 3 flights of stairs. Room we had was noisy (air conditioning unit outside). A string of minor ineptitudes and mistakes with a take it or leave it attitude at least on arrival.Breakfast was chaotic.Had people waiting to be seated and were not clearing tables. We saw two large tables unused and not reset for at least 30 mins while waiting. We sat down at a small unset spare table and helped ourselves from the buffet but did not receive any coffee. Never had a breakfast experience like this anywhere in the world. Very poor. Expensive parking. Poky cold room. Hot water not functional. Insufficient room and staff for breakfast service. Overpriced ++ especially the breakfast. The air conditioning was beyond our window and it was very loud. The room did not have internet access as advertised, which was my main motivation for booking this hotel. I checked out because of this (and had to commute instead). Thw would not refund my money for the unused part of the reservation. The staff seemed to think that because they did not find in-room internet necessary I should not. An unusually terrible service from a chain which is usually good.Room far too small (this was a supposedly 'superior room'). Plastic room 'keys' failed to work, twice... Lobby undergoing quite extensive renovation - looked like a bomb site. Lift 'industrial'!. The room was not clean or serviced, the shower did not work properly,there was poor reception on the telelvision, the breakfast was basic andthe staff at reception on arrival ineeficient.

Travelling information

From The North: Take the m40 and then the second Oxford exits 8a. Follow the a40 Oxford until you come to a roundabout, at which you need to take the second exit signposted Headington and city centre. Follow this road through until you come to a small roundabout called the Plain. Take the exit signed city centre, ignoring the no through traffic sign. Go over Magdalen Bridge, keeping in the left handed lane, straight ahead at the traffic lights, and then take the first left-handed turn into Merton Street. The entrance to the hotel and Car Park are directly to the left on Merton Street.
