I liked that it was always clean everywhere and that the staff were always so nice and helpfull. I also liked that the hotel was open 24/7 so you didn't have to worry about getting back there too late. Another thing that I appreciated were the guards outside when it got late, because it felt more safe. The bar and the other rooms downstairs where you could hang out were also brilliant! All in all I'm very happy with my stay there and I'd recommend The Generator to anyone going to London.
all reviews » The bar in the hostel is awesome. The general atmosphere of the place is great - definitely the way to go if you want to meet other young people and have a damn good time. Drinks prices in the bar weren't too bad - £2.20 on all drinks (except doubles!) and the kareoke was fun. Staff were very friendly too.Everything was grand! The bar was fantastic (definitely check out Karaoke night) and the free tours were great for someone who was only in the city for a couple nights. Close to main attractions and only a 10 minute walk away from the tube. Very hospitable staff. I plan on returning!. The friendly staff, including the door men, and a man who worked in the bar greeting everyone. In a good location, and a good place to meet people.HAVING THE INTERNET ALL THE TIME.. THE GUY IN THE CAFE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. There was a good atmosphere in the bar and the food was very keenly priced and of a good standard.Price and location. location great - train station, supermarket and cafe close by. Easy to access other inner city parts of London. Beds were very comfy! My daughter (20 year old) thought it was wicked. wants to go back with her friends! I thought it was well supervised and controlled, security wise considering there are up to 600 guests. I won't have a problem with her going back with her friends. I'm 53 and this was my first hostel experience. It was pretty nice. Not far from the tube and just a stop or two from main areas. Lot's of activity but it didn't feel too crowded or crazy. A 4-person room was fine. Bathroom was fine and common areas comfortable. They also had food and a bar and internet access. So, for inexpensive accomodations that are clean and safe and meeting some travelers this was great. . The security at night and in the day - access at night was differentfrom in the day so as not to distub other guests! There was not muchpaper work to fill in so checking in and out was fast and simple.Location was great. It was value for money with decent breakfastoptions. The bar was quirkywith different theme nights etc. Cheap place to stay in London. There is a neat bar on site. Breakfast is included. Excellent place to stay for one night. There was a noisy guest in the dorm but that was not really the fault of the hotel. noisy and cold.Nothing really. No, everithing is almost perfect. a little bit untidy environment (outside). The toilets and batrhrooms could do with updating - maybe the carpets inthe corridoors could do with a clean (smelt a bit of smoke?!?) but nomajor problems. The bathrooms are not so great. At times the music from the bar can be an annoyance for trying to sleep. If I was being picky - the showers were a bit manky and let down the rest of the generally good spec accommodation, but this is a hostel, and you don't expect hotel-spec showers! Also it would have been good to have known to take a padlock to lock the locker in the room. my two room mates. they were too drunk.. ok, they were there with me, so its my own fault.... NOTHING DURING MY STAY. Noisy, inconsiderate room-mates. The bathrooms could be cleaner.it was a little noisy. Its was spot on for my needs.no accessories to be borrowed/rented. poor maintenance, guests with no respect for resting hours and no enforcement of this rule. noise on the lower level and being next to the toilet. A bit expensive but a good stay nevertheless. Yeah, the noise from the bar and from in front of the hostel disturbed me at night... WC not so clean sometimes, lift not working. Bathrooms being closed in mid morning to clean. 10Am seems too early toclean if you have had a long flight and want to sleep in a little beforehaving a refreshing morning shower. Also rooms need air conditioning asvery hot! Had problems getting into room and was mucked around a lothaving to wait an hour for a room after arriving at 8pm which seems lateenough for rooms to be ready. it could use some new carpets and the bed linen had yellow stains - but that doesn't necessarily mean it was dirty. i only stayed one night, so i can't say much more.you miss a few home comforts. the toilet and showers are disgusting. when turning on a tap you could feel the dirt around the handle. When flushing toilets each toilet flooded and brought up its contents .Too expensive for what you get. Floor we were on was being refurbished. Toilets and Showers available were on other floors.I booked shuttle bus to airport Hethrew from hotel service desk, paid 20 pound, but the shuttle bus didn't show up on time!!!. I didn't particularly liked the fact that you have to buy towels, padlocks and everything else, but that could be just a "hostels" type of practise.
