The bed was big enough not to suffer from the heatwaves and very confortable. Our room had a view on the London Mews, which are very common in the neighborhood. There's beautiful Hyde Park next to a hotel, you can easy walk to Oxford street, Paddington underground station's in 5-minutes walk. I like this hotel, I'm going to stay here again :). The location was perfect, only two blocks from Paddington Station, 10 minutes walk to Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens. Our room was big and light, bathroom was modern. Breakfast was adequate, just toast, croissants, spreads, meat, cheese, cereal, yoghurt and tea/coffee. Free Wifi was great. The continental breakfast was good, check in straight forward friendly staff, so close to Paddington train station / underground and Lancaster Gate Tube (Central Line). An old property that has been updated well despite the limitations this can sometimes have. For the price excellent. All the staff were very friendly, the hotel was very fresh and clean,comfortable beds and reasonably quiet considering location. It was a very good location, easy for the underground. Good to have a safe in the room, nice decor. The card for the front door was difficult to operate. Clean, modern rooms with all the comfort, not very often seen in london. We were put on the top floor - so a lot a stairs to climb and no lift. (not that this bothered us, but it might be worth requesting a ground floor room if you can't manage stairs). Mattress too hard. Toilet so high that my feet barely touched the floor. The steep staircase was a bit tight to negotiate with bags but it wasn't a major problem. The rooms were small & no lift, so you had to carry your bags up a few flights of stairs. Able to leave suitcase at Reception during the day after check-out, but no security whatever when collecting it later . a book of cloakroom tickets wouldn't break the bank. Climbing up 3 flights of stairs with luggages was extremely challenging. Very small room, small shower and flat pillow. Facility does not have Elevator. There are quite many steps if you stay on the higher floors. Ok for young people but stairs can be too much for the elder lies. Only issue, being a light sleeper was the road noise, which did not affect my wife so it must be me?. I was a little bit disappointed when I saw the room but it was my mistake as I didn't think about it beforehand. It was my second stay in this hotel and I can say that I assume that a bathroom is not well equipped: I think it needs more shelves for putting some things, also there have to be a toothpaste , some cotton pads and etc. Also, it is not comfortable to take a shower because there are no hooks for hanging some clothes. The room was in the basement (though there was a window at least). The shower hot/cold handle was hard to turn - I had to have a scalding shower the first morning. I then asked the receptionist, and she said probably the heat would be OK now because the cleaner would have changed it, but it wasn't and the next day I had to speak to a different receptionist to get it sorted. There was nothing we did not like but I found the stairs hard work after a long day walking in London! We stayed on the top floor and no lift. Lots of very narrow stairs to top floor rooms, not a problem for me with just an overnight bag but wouldn't recommend for elderly, disabled or anyone with lots of luggage. There were only sheer drapes over the window and it was very bright in the room by 5:00 AM. Breakfast was a little too basic, but fine. Scolding hot water made it difficult to shower. Could only adjust to make it even hotter than scolding. But it did relax the achy muscles and feet from walking all day. Rooms are quite small. Breakfast is very basic. Room cramped; breakfast very basic. A little bit noise at groud floor rooms. There is no lift so it is difficult for old people with big luggage. The entrance stair way is a bit narrow. Very small dining , mediocre breakfast.
