Very close to Princess Street with its many shops and eating places,with the train station a short walk away. Food was good and the staff very friendly and helpful, the lounge area was warm and inviting and the rooms clean and comfortable. . The bed was very comfortable, and very big! The staff in the Bistro were really friendly as well. The hotel is situated just off the main road, meaning it is quiet at night, but central enough to do lots of sightseeing.

The position of the hotel is excellent for visiting the city and for transport connections. It was quiet but very conveniently situated for all the main attractions of Edinburgh. It had a very welcominng and cosy foyer. The rooms were nicely decorated.As a solo traveller I found the hotel very comfortable. It is in a quiet but central location and very convenient for visiting the town's main attractions. Great location from which to visit all the attractions Edinburgh has to offer - however initially local folk did not know where it was. - thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have liked to extend our visit - certainly will stay there on our next visit. The room was very big and the decoration of the common areas of the hotel was old style and elegant. The staff were very friendly and promptly providing help on any query whether related to the hotel or the town. I have stayed here a few times with work and always find it a welcoming and friendly place. No. I think some people may not appreciate the short, but steep walk from Waverley station to the hotel, but then there are many steps/hills in and around the city.Only complaint was the tv remote was broken but that did not interfere with our stay. builders laying the tram lines started work at 6.30 am - noisy!. I will point out we were not warned about the building site situated outside the room wondow, if we had be warned or perhaps an offer to move rooms or discount it would of made it better, we were woken after a night out at 7:15am by the sound of power tools, I felt quite ill after the lack of sleep that I couldn't face my breakfast and it was my birthday so felt a little upset by it. hotel situated on quite a steep cobbled hill so not suitable for those with walking difficulties, although the other approach is not as steep.Car parking not easy - a common problem with centrally located hotels. The TV was much too small and the remote control did not work properly. Also, I felt that £150 was too high a price to pay, particularly as it did not include breakfast.There were construction works going on next to my room all throughout the day. Also the food at the hotel was not amazing. The heaters were also not working properly and I was provided with a substitute heater which kept the room warm all the days. Lift was a bit dodgy.........but reliable.expensive breakfast, some rooms were not full refurnished and very far from the reception. No feather pillows available. Next to an ongoing construction site. This is obviously a temporary issue, and noise was not a problem as it was at the weekend, but I imagine it would be more of an issue during the week.No. small room, bad view from window. Outside building works detracted from the overall experience.
