The hosts were extremely accommodating, welcoming and friendly. Very helpful in every aspect of answering questions, providing suggestions, etc, etc. Breakfast was exceptional and the ambience of the dining area was wonderful. Cath has such a warm, friendly manner that she was definitely one of the best hostesses of a B and B that we had during our entire visit. A very nice stay! Decent sized room and a very comfortable bed. The flat screen TV was a nice surprise as well. Nice breakfast. When traveling into the city center, recommend the use of the city bus system. There is a bus stop across the street from the hotel, very easy to get around.all reviews »
The hotel owner was absolutely wonderful. Very friendly, welcoming and informative of the local area. The room was extremely clean and modern, with all the home creature comforts and the breakfast was superb. The Alba House was amazing!! Cath gave us lots of information and suggested some activities for our stay. The breakfast was wonderful. The room was spotless. The Alba House was our favorite place in the UK. Alba house is a great hotel..stop looking elsewhere just book it..!
Very friendly very clean lovely breakfast. A very easy and regular bus service to the centre, about 10 mins on the bus. Excellent. The landlady was very friendly, offering advice on places to visit. The breakfast was very good. The room and facilities within were excellent. Staff were incredibly friendly; room fantastic in all aspects; location ideal (buses to city at door); breakfast excellent. The hostess was wonderful. We had access to internet and telephone, maps and bus route information.Very friendly owner made you feel very much 'at home'. Could park on site which was a bonus. It was a bit far away from the city center.It is further away from the city centre than we expected, but still only a 10-15 min bus ride (very cheap on the buses too!). internet and heating were a bit slow. a few minor points: heater in the bathroom could not be switched off, the room was pretty small (but clean) in relation to the price we paid. There is no guest lounge. If there are several guests in the group there is nowhere to meet other than the Dining Room. Grouting on shower base was black and unsightly.I asked for a late checkout. No problem I was told. When I checked out there was an extra £ 25 on my bill.

The hotel is approximately 8 miles (13 km) from Edinburgh Airport. Take the airport bus to Edinburgh Waverley Rail Station. From the station, cross Princes Street to the shops and take the number 3, 3A, 37 or 37A bus to Craigmillar Park.
Alternatively, when leaving Edinburgh Waverley Rail Station on to Princes Street, turn right and walk 200 metres to the North Bridge. Cross to the east side of the North Bridge and take the number 7, 8 or 31 bus (or the number 3, 3A, 37 or 37A bus) to Craigmillar Park. The bus stops outside Alba House and will only take a few minutes in total.
