This hostel is great value for money for Stockholm and quite comfortable. Our end was a like a nice hotel, with the use of hostel facilities (ie cheap washing machine, kitchen, kids toys, guidebooks, info). The room was equipped almost like a hotel ie with hairdryer, phone. It was quite a large place with many groups of teenagers staying there. The cafe / bar downstairs had a great ambience and food. all reviews » Walking distance to city centre/train station but there is a tube station close by as well as bus stops. Easy to find. Close to shops and restaurants. Quiet area, near park. Sufficient breakfast option. Room/bathroom (en suite) size is more than adequate and bed comfortable. Room looked new. Being there in the winter, the room was nice and warm. Many TV channels including programmes in English. Can even buy stamps at the hotel. This is a brilliant hostel. Stockholm is expensive so I decided on a bed in a 4 bed male dorm. At 56 it was a first time for this type of accomodation. Bed comfortable. washing facilities asequate and very clean and each bed has a good sized locked cupboard. That I could check in after midnight without a problem. No frills, no fuss service and always excellent, friendly, staff on duty. ZInkensdam has a high standard of facilities, including beds, for a youth hostel, and is very conveniently located. Easy to get to, has underground parking, always in a clean state whenever we visit. Restaurant has a good choice of foods that are very well presented! Beds (in Hotel side) are of a hard nature, which is good for all to have a sound night sleep!. the 24 hours reception desk did help because I arrived there at nearly 4 a.m, the staffs are really nice and helpful, the place is quiet and green, and near a metro station. That the room cost was the same as the rebated room cost I get as an STF member (without the requirement for membership), and that the letsbookhotel.com reservations remove the rooms/places from the usual hostel availability. Unfortunately, and this is nothing to do with the hostel itself, my only companion in the 4 bed room had an advanced case of apnea - so that not even earplugs helped, and with the hostel being so full it was not possible to find another solution. Self-serve kitchen is in need of a make-over: no toasters, only 1 microwave that works, no cereal bowls that allow your cereal to 'soak' as they are too shallow. Needs up-date in regard to fridge & keeping your food 'your food', if you see what i mean?. I've seen so many people who are not youngsters in this hostel, and I also have seen one in the mixed dormitory, It's a little bit strange but I can accept that. The food in the restaurant is expensive even for Stockholm prices.There is a sign in the bathroom stating if you want clean towels leave the old ones on the floor.We did this but there were no towels or cleaning in our 4 days stay. small problem it a little bit far by walking to the old city but you can take subway and in 5 min you are there. and the subway is 24 * 7. the noisy ventilation system that runs thru the whole building. nothing. High price, but Europe seems to be expensive. Parking is hard (overall in Stockholm). Laundry is for money - was not mentioned before. Breakfast doesn't worth its price Kitchen is noisy and crowded bed was shaking when my neighbour climbed on it. i got lost in the first couple of days to find it , it needs a more clear map to find the place , so i walked alot with my lugagge. WiFi was very weak throughout the building. Paying extra for sheets and blankets in a place this size is just silly. We were in a private room which costs more money but still had to pay on top to have clean sheets and towels. Rooms for 4 people quite small. Breakfast expensive. The "free to use" space in the kitchen is not really clear marked and someone took my lunch box! The guy at the reception did not gave me the complete instructions on how to use the spaces of the hostel. The breakfast is expensive and the key of the locker of my room was damaged. Don't know if it's normal in hostels, but during our one week stay our room wasn't cleaned once; water spread through the whole bathroom while showering; no water boiler in the room; no little fridge in the room > but overall it was good price / quality (610 euro for 1 week for 2 people). Internet connection is very bad and some application, such as Viber were not functioning. Small room. None of the main attractions are on walking distance; small rooms. I really don't get why you have to pay for sheets and towels additionally, the prize of the hostel is quite high (although Stockholm is expensive anyway). We arrived at 9pm and there was nothing left to eat, even in the bar... and no food for purchase. The kitchen was overcrowded. It's an excellent hostel with an hotel pricing... The restaurant was too expensive. There are not breakfast included in the price. A little bit far from the center, so you can not walk to there, but by subway is less than 20 min. The door can not stop the voice out side. It is too noisy to sleep at night. Too expensive for what it provided Cant believe i had to pay for linen! Didnt like the smell around the hostel and it was quite dim all the time didnt have a hostel-feel to it. Private room was horrible- like a prison cell. Cost me over 60 euro with no breakfast/towels/linen provided. I moved out and stayed in the centre of town and got a hotel for 110 e INCLUDING breakfast/towels/linen. We stayed at the 'hotel' part of the hostel and felt much like overpaying, because the only thing different from dorm experience was bathroom. I believe that free breakfast and free towels may be quite costy for a hostel, but we are in 21th century already, why is a charger next to bed is such a hard-to-understand concept for them? Also staff was quite rude (probably due to the hordes of stoned students). Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone but the group mentioned above.
