The staff were amazing, very friendly and extremely helpful. The location was great although not located near shopping centres cabs run day and night for very little. The buffet restaurant has a large choice of dishes to suit most travellers The views are breath taking. Tip- try to located on the 8 th floor that is if you love a great view and are wanting to party as the bar and lounge are just above. If you have kids or want to get to sleep then below 6th floor you will be safe.
all reviews » Location of the Hotel, close to beach and Dutch Hospital - a place surrounded with many restaurants. Hotel is clean and comfort after long day of travel. It offers live music & Staff communicate well in English and very helpful. Superb location. We had the corner suite at the fourth floor and it was splendid. The hotel is one of the oldest in the city and it had been recently renovated and deserves every star of the 5. I like the food there They have a very good international buffet . There's a seafood resturant called the ocean , it's the best in sri lanka ,plz try the handala fish there & the lobestar. Probably the most comfortable bed in which I've ever slept! The seafood restaurant was excellent and the pool great . My husband enjoyed the gym. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel!. I liked almost everything! The whole atmosphere of the hotel,friendly, polite and professional staff, the spaceous and very comfortable room with an amazing view, etc. etc. I like the overall look of the Kingsbury's room. They look modern yet traditional. Love the black and white scheme. The pool and bar are amazing. The staff are attentive. Hotel does not provide security -access to lift /elevator is for public esp. During Christmas season. The buffet was not 5 star as one would've expected. Sometimes 2 busy and 2 crowded the entrance hall and the reception area. The view of the sea in the rooms is just partial. Had to pay extra for most things, e.g. you couldn't access the spa or gym without paying entrance. A 3 minute taxi ride booked for us by the hotel cost us 1300 rupees and should have been about 200 rupees. All the little extras were really expensive so made our stay there not very good value for money. We did like the hotel though and the staff were very polite and curteous. I did not like the lobby it is a walkway. Colombo is not a city for long stay. Go to country and other cities like Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. The travel desk didn't properly inform me how much their car to another hotel near airport was going to be... Very expensive and I felt fleeced!. The nights. A disaster The beauty of the hotel turned into a nightmare once dusk set in. The loud thump of the speakers could be heard way down to our bedroom all through the night. It was the worst type of torture. I do not recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to get a nights sleep but definitely a fabulous property to visit for a swim and meal. small bath room. i didnt have any negative impression. nothing ... Food quality was not upto mark. We ordered some pasta,some sri lankan and indian food. Was a total let down. Free wifi is slow. Crouded main entrence and the front desk. None. We waited for more than an hour to check in. Poor internet service, really poor, really slow, cannot connect two devices from one room number - the coffee shops in town give a better service. Poor service in restaurants - ordered items not delivered but billed on account. Small size of the room. Unavoidable noise due to construction on beach. external works around the pool not yet completed. The price is too high as nearby hotels are quite cheaper. Staff are trying but not there yet.Staff are always trying to look for a tip. There was a big noice because of workers since 6 o´clock in the morning and we couldn´t sleep. The bathroom smells bad. Bad service at the sky bar. nothing. Shopping malls are very fare. Room size- Executive Club room was not worth. At the most its a deluxe room and nothing more. Untrained restaurant general Staff, but senior staff fine. No variety in Breakfast buffet, same for six days that we stayed. Construction noise from upstatir or outside during my stay. Staff at room service. Coackroaches in the room. Front office is a mess,staff very unprofesional. Fake promises Arrogant behaviour. Very bad hotel they charge more but avoid the breakfast so that they can save few dollars is very cheap.
