Only a short drive from Paarl and Franschhoek, Ryneveld Country Lodge offers a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Start the day with breakfast in bed. Afterwards, you can either take a bath in your free-standing tub or enjoy a swim in the outdoor pool.

Since the hotel was not fully booked, they uprgraded us and we had a very large and nice room. The value for the money is really outstanding (and includes free secured care park) also the staff was nice and offered their support to book the visit for the most famous wineries in Stellenbosch. Definitely the best place win which we stayed in our 2 weeks stay in South Africa. We had an upstairs loft type room, it was very cute, lovely free standing bath, also had shower, quiet location yet mins to university. Walking distance to town. Great breakfasts, clean, parking, info on activities around Stellenbosch. We really loved the room and enjoyed our stay.

The room was attractive, very comfortable and not the normal "Hotel room" layout. Bar fridge well stocked and reasonably priced. The location in the old part of Stellebosch gives it a very good feel. The lady managing reception was very accommodating and friendly. The staff are very helpfull and makes you feel at home. The design of the honeymoon suites is the best ever as if it was build for me and the breakfast is to die for especially the flipjacks with bacon and syrup. As we were celebrating out 10Yr Wedding Anniversary the Rynveld Lodge made our room very special and I am very thankful for their hospitality. Will def recommend to anyone. The guest house was very comfortable and we had a lovely room in the roof. Very central position for the University and centre of Stellenbosch. A couple of furnishings are starting to look a little threadbare and may need some "touching up" but no real problem. No bath plug so couldn't use the lovely bath. No light in the toilet. Parking is very limited and very tight squeeze to get into the reserved parking. Room definitely not suitable for tall persons although very quaint. The minibar had 7 different beverages and only one of each. The staff serving breakfast was not friendly and they came to clean the room when we were still busy getting ready to go. It was 10:30 and check out time is 11:00. Nothing to complain about. Parking was secure but a bit far from the room. Could hear noise above me and from street, however there is nothing that could be done about this. narrow parking, sharing the breakfast table with other guests. Wifi did not work and breakfast is served only between 730 and 930, would be better if it started earlier. The Aircon was not working properly did not warm the room. Access to Internet not up to date/ secure. Nothing. Not so negative, but something to mention. I think there is room for improvement in the cleanliness of rooms. Otherwise, everything is great.The ceiling was too low in my room so I had to bend to get around in the room. Our room did not unfortunately form part of the Ryneveld Country lodge premises but was on the other side of the road, so not very convinient. Our room was well decorated and clean but we had a very bad smell inside. It seems that this smell came from the waste water tank. The other inconvinience was the noise from the neigbour's bathroom. We knew when our neighbour was taking a shower, opening a water tap etc... Did not particularly like the location, in the middle of the university area. Which was quite loud and noisy. We were given a sub standard room to begin with which was change once I complained. The eletrics in the room were something to be desired. They had lots of sockets going into adaptor which was faulty. DANGEROUS. Didnt like the area or town. The guest house is in need of refurbishment. The honey moon suite leaves a lot to be desired very limited head room. They need to smarten up their act as competition is intense in the accommodation market. Student flats next door extremely noisy till early hours of the morning. The way they handled the booking, after changes were made was not good. didnt seem very clean not very competent staff and very very tiny rooms.

Travelling information

By car:
- Arriving at Cape Town International Airport, follow the N2 in the direction of
Somerset West.
- Continue on the N2 until you reach the R44 turn-off (Stellenbosch).
- Change onto the R44 and continue until you reach Stellenbosch.
- Once you arrive in Stellenbosch, continue ahead until you reach the 6th
set of traffic lights.
- Turn right onto Merriman Avenue.
- Pass the MacDonalds and BP gas station on your left.
- Turn left at the 3rd set of traffic lights, onto Ryneveld Street.
