Kettle in room. Helpful staff allowed me a coffee & croissant in the bar rather than spending 180 rand for a breakfast I didn't want. Excellent lighting - at last a chain which appreciates people want decent light to live by. Good shower overhead and hand held. Can open windows. Very near Gautrain station and Sandton square and safe to walk. View of the Aston Martin Garage. Very helpful friendly staff made everyone feel relaxed & welcome. Very clean & professional. Excellent breakfast was good value with plenty of choice. Impressed that they had kids TV in the dining room at breakfast time helping parents enjoy a relaxed breakfast.
all reviews » The hotel is located a street behind the Mandela Square shopping complex, so it's close to all of the nice cafes and restaurants in Sandton. The rooms are quite oppulent, comfy beds, towels and furnishings. The restaurant is mediocre...slack service and very slow. I was really impressed with the professionality of the staff and the quic response for any concerns. The room and beding were wonderful. The very large, modern shower was a delight!. Will definitely return to HI Sandton. Loved the spacious and well designed room. It was quiet and fully functional. The guys at the front desk were very friendly and help full. Most of the staff very friendly hospitable and attentive. Great location, walk away from most of my business and good local restaurants Room very clean. Free wifi. Very Comfortable lounge for showering and sitting is a great idea due to flight times in and out of SA and to allow check-in and out - GOOD JOB. Staff good room excellent upgrade cos of the wait. Would stay again but if given breakfast inclusive with the stay. Staff were friendly, facilities were excellent and my bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Hotel is built in a very good way. The comfort of the room. - Facilities were good. Breakfast was excellent. Nothing. Poor quality towels (compare badly against Southern Sun). Low quality shampoo/shower gel. First room smelt of smoke, second room had stale smoke wafting through airvent. Our room had a noise problem from the neighbours recycle bins. Probably only affected a few rooms. The bar staff were belligerent and rude most of the time. Upon return from a tour, coffee took 45 minutes to make and the guys were quite arrogant. Generally the staff need some customer service training. I have no complaints!. Did not try the "a la carte" menu but the buffet was a bit "light" in term of quality. The internet was really slow but this is not specific to HI Sandton but to Joburg. The girls at the front desk could make an effort to smile and be a bit more helpful to help and explain things. The bar staff were confusing not sure who was serving what Free wifi but it went up and down like a yoyo Gym too small with not enough equipment. Shame that they use that room when there are so many other wider spaces. Some staff need training - skills are below par. Arrived at the hotel at 4 and had to wait until 5.45 for our room to be ready which we found totally unaccceptable. Breakfast at R150 per person extremely high so ate out at Sandton and had a good breakfast for half the price. Expensive in comparison to others in similar area but standard is excellent. The internet WI FI connection doesn't work most of the times or it is very very slow. No shuttle available to the hotel from the train station, although advertised. Had to walk to hotel. However, the shuttle was available returning to the station. further from railway station than I thought it would be. Shopping centre next door closed down. R 3.-/sheet when printing. No smoking in the sky bar. Experience could be packaged better!. TV stations advertised not available. I booked on line, paid with my VISA card, but was not able to get into the dining room for breakfast. Why could I not just sign for breakfast and settle the bill on departure. I had to go back to my room to fetch cash. there was no somking room avilable. N/A . Room service is very delaying. The staff service, specialy at the restaurant. the service was very bad. I cannot wait for more than 30 minutes unattended. bad odours in room from air-conditioning system. we insisted on non smoking room but were not screened from smoke at all. - Check in took 45 Minutes. We arrived past midnight - Room had coffee maker but no spoons. Called room service who said its too late to help - No complimentary mineral water. Called to buy and same response - Check out at 4.45am. The receptionist was asleep. Waited for around 5 min. Had to shout for sometime to catch her attention. - I am sure with almost USD 300 per night, one can get a better deal than I got with my wife. Rooms were very noisy and we did complain but nothing was done, and when the manager finally came up he agreed it would be impossible to sleep in the room and just moved us to another which was even worse and a smokers room. Customer service was near non existing and internet was extremely slow. I have already answered this. Please refrain from further mail.

Directions from OR Tambo International Airport: -Take the R24 towards Johannesburg for approximately 10km -At the Gilloolys interchange, take the N3 (N1) freeway north towards Pretoria. -After the Marlboro Avenue off-ramp, keep left and at the Buccleuch interchange take the M1 slip road -Travel south along the M1 to Johannesburg, passing Woodmead and Marlboro off-ramps -Keeping left, take the next off-ramp to Grayston Drive, turning right at the traffic lights into Grayston Drive -Continue along Grayston Drive until you reach the intersection with Rivonia Road where you should turn left -At the second set of traffic lights you will see the Village Walk Shopping Centre on your right.
