all reviews » The staff were great, just couldn't do enough for you and the hotel itself is a great mix of the old original house and newly built annex with lots of facilities, including a bar, jaccuzzi (if the weather allows), good size pool etc.Breakfast is also of a high standard with an excellent continental selection as well as choice of hot options. The breakfast room is a lovely location with comfortable chairs and soothing background music being played, all getting the day off to a great start. The breakfasts were fantastic. In addition to an elaborate cold breakfast with breads, cereals, fruit, nuts, yogurt, there were also a number of hot breakfasts that could be ordered. I was a solo female traveler in Cape Town for 4 nights and I felt very uncomfortable staying in a room on the lower level of the hotel. They immediately moved me to another room. I was very impressed that they took my concerns so seriously. My wife and I stayed at The Glen last month. We experienced a level of service which is very rare. Special thanks to Phillip Botha who was really incredible: organizing a rental car, giving advice on what to see, making numerous phone calls, bookings, etc.... There were one or two tiny irritations in our particular room which could do with attention, a battered bedside lampshade and a safe which didn't work. The tv signal wasn't great but that is possibly down to the horrendous weather we experienced while in Cape Town, including a hail storm. However the guys at the hotel were great when we returned looking like drowned rats and even lit the big open fire and served us coffee. Some ants were coming into the room through the air conditioner system. When I alerted the front desk, they took care of this right away. Nothing. Cleaning ladies not up to standard. Not really any complaints to add. The Tv had only a few channels and was of poor quality, but we don't travel to watch telly, so didn't use it anyway... What is there not to like, Nothing, this Hotel deserves to only receive excellent reviews. Cockroach in the shower, but disappeared by himself. Sauna and steambath open at 6pm, but are actually only warm quite a bit later. Some minor details about the rooms, small things that need to be fix, but nothing major. Next to nothing really. Warm water ran out in our bathroom on Sunday morning, luckily it was a warm day. I don't like the fact that the room that I was in does not have air-conditioner because during the weekend that we were there it was cold and didn't have any facility to make the room warm. And now I was thinking of a situation whereby it would be hot and there would be nothing that would help us keep the room cold. N/A. Nothing. the location is fine, not great. Hard floors in corridors means sound does echo/travel. Nothing really. nothing. no elevator, hopefully staff took care of my luggages. Nothing !!. Nothing, liked everything. Nothing. Nothing. No hair dryer in the room initially. Room 11 is extremely noisy. You can hear people walking on a wooden floor above almost 24 hours a day. We were woken at 07h15 on the Saturday morning so they could access an electricty box. We had only gone to bed at 01h00 so that was not pleasant. The tv did not work initially. Leaking on our towels, but not a major problem. Massage booking was done incorrectly...spoilt Sunday morning. Parking. No shower cap (very small complaint).
