Hotel check-in staff were very helpful, spoke good English and were friendly. The hotel was re-opened earlier this summer after major renovations. Our room was very nice: good size, good comfortable bed, good linen, well-appointed; good bathroom and amenities. Worth paying the extra for views over the lake – we could see castle and had views to the hills and nearby valleys. We would love to have sat on the deck had the weather been better. all reviews » Location was good, just a 2 min walk to the lake. No views of it from the room (top floor, room 308) but nice scenery though. The hotel and its rooms have been recently renovated (past 1-2 years). They were nice and had a balcony. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a a little small but not an issue at all. Free parking in the hotel at the back (under cover) or front. There were plenty of spaces available when we went. Wifi was excellent (11Mbs download) and the upload speed was 14M. Best location-half a minute walk from central bus station and Lake Blade. Great and helpful staff, especially LUCA, who made great efforts helping us with everything we needed and showed great patience helping us planning our trips in that area. The hotel is very clean, rooms are big and quite. Great air conditioning. Breakfast dinning room is designed fabulously and is very comfortable. Food is delicious and there is a great variety. The location was super as it was near the center and the bus station. We were able to use the bus with ease to do some local sightseeing. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The beds were great. We had a small sitting area which we also appreciated. We visited the area during a very hot spell and were thankful for the air conditioning. Also the wifi worked very well in the whole hotel. I would definitel. Fantastic location. We had a balcony with lake view, and only 5 minutes walk to the lake. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff were pleasant and helpful. All the public areas and bedrooms were modern, with lots of design features. The breakfast buffet was excellent, plenty of choice, and the 'made for you' omelettes, pancakes and eggs done any which way you wanted were delicious. As a mature couple, travelling through Europe, it suited us perfectly. Slovenia is a lovely country with spec. The rooms have gone through an extensive refurbishment. Some areas are not complete yet - but the rooms are great. Breakfast - great selection, cooked, pancakes, cereals, fruit. Luca at the reception is the 'life' of this place - nothing was too much trouble, assistance was offered before it was asked for, and everyone was always acknowledged. Great find!!. Arrived at 1.30 and was not allowed in until 2, when we arrived at 2room was not ready. Bed, two separate beds actually, too soft matress. didn't have an indoor pool, and bath room especially bath layout. Relatively small rooms and high priced. Staff not helpful, either at the counter or restaurant. Location was a little far from the center. Room was ridiculously small. Bus tour hotel - so don't expect a good breakfast unless you want to fight for it.

Important information to guests

Please note that Hotel Astoria is undergoing thorough renovation between 1 July 2012 and 31 August 2012. Construction works are being performed daily between 07:00 and 18:00. During this period the hotel's restaurant is closed.

Information about the area

Lovely pathways and scenic routes lead from the Hotel to the Castle beach, located under a high cliff with the Bled castle above, proudly rising toward the sky. There is plenty of sporting activities available nearby, such as swimming, running, fitness, tennis, golf, rowing, horse-riding, rafting, roller blading, ice-skating, skiing, etc. Not far away is also the commercial center with its shops and bars.

Travelling information

Entering the town Bled you must proceed till the first and only traffic lights in Bled, there you go right and follow the road (500 m) to the cross road in the shape of the letter Y , take the right shoulder and after 20 m on the right side of the road stands our hotel. (When the road slightly rises, the Hotel Astoria emerges on your right, amid green trees and welcomes you with its large parking lot.)
