After staying at Hotel Del Mar for 8 days it was such a releif to walk into a proper comfortable air conditioned hotel. The staff were excellent, helpful, professional and friendly. The room was small but comfortable and had a lovely balcony with a nice view of the pool and the beach. Fantastic hotel really enjoyed our stay here The room was clean and comfy with good views of the beach and sea The private beach was very clean and never to crowded. Lots of bars and restaurants close to the hotel.

I had a great holiday in Mamaia and I was very happy with the hotel choice. The guys from Vega Band are great, very talented. At the moment there is no other option in Mamaia. Like many hotels in romania, the gym facilities are poor for men. The maximum weight is 10kilos on the dumbells which is womens and childrens. I am no hulk hogan but that is way too low for about 95% of men who do any fitness. The pool bar seemed to have the same jazz/blues cabaret set up every night, i dont know if theyre targetting an older croud but it would be nice to have a modern rock and roll band every now and then. Overall, though, these are minor criticisms of an excellent hotel... My only slight complaint was the service on the beach. It was sometimes difficult to get served and could be very slow. - Service is extremely bad. Took a senior suite at 500 euro a night and felt like they are doing me a favor to let us stay at hotel, 1 older lady in particular that works at restaurant. - swimming pool closes at 6pm. the rooms are quite small for a 5 star hotel, the food quite expensive and it is simply not a 5 star hotel ... I had the impression that most customers were there for business, not for vacation on the Black Sea. Everyone wore suits and nobody came to the pool or beach. None. mamaia as all other parts of romania is full of security and police. to take a rest in a country with policeman every 100m is impossible....whole social situation is bad and so many security arround gives bad picture about your own safety, also mamaia is near oil-rafinery, so from hotel - one part - you have nice attractive view to tanks and chimneys, sea is dirty - muddy.... breakfast was very poor. it was same as 2~3 star hotels. Breakfast needs a bit of improvement. Nothing to dislike. rooms are to small. The rest of the staff was incredibly arrogant and lazy, we waited for two hours at the pool for a drink. The reception did not properly inform us about the hotel accomodation, the first and only thing they talk about was that we have to pay in advance. There are a lot of rules you have to follow, making you feel like in an army camp not in a five star hotel. I've never been in such a bad five star hotel before.

Violet Lounge Bar
We would be happy to welcome you to the private and exclusive atmosphere of the Violet Lounge Bar situated at the highest floor of the Hotel. With a beautiful view on the sea and the beach, the Violet Lounge Bar is open daily from 19:00 until 04:00 in the morning. You can enjoy fine drinks, snacks, aged wines, cigars and tea to the sounds of a saxophone or the piano. Romantic summer nights can be enhanced by observing the stars through the telescope on the terrace.

The first 3 floors represent the fire (red tones), the next 2 the earth (brown tones), the 6th and the 7th floors the water (marine, green tones) and the highest floor the air (white).

The hotel has been used many years ago as the place of one of the reference films of Romanian cinematography, named "Nea Marin Miliardar".
