The Crystal Suites Chez Helena (childhood home of Helena Rubinstein, cosmetics magnate) was, in a word, magical. We were not sure what to expect upon our arrival in Krakow, and the small boutique hotel blew us away on every level. The staff were very helpful, booking day trips upon our arrival at 9:00P local time to make sure were able to get spots to the salt mine and on Auschwicz tours the following days. Good shower and lots of hot water, apartment temperature easy to control. Newly refurbished building. Some bottled water, tea and ground coffee provided, + fridge, dishwasher and washing machine supplied, so perfect if you were staying longer and wanted to be more self catering and indipendant. Very near historical points of interest in the old Jewish qua. The appartment is amazing and I would recommend it to anybody and will go back again. There is everything you need there and it is quiet yet in an ideal place to explore the city and with many good restaurants within a few minutes walk so you can enjoy a meal in the evening. The staff are very friendly and helpful and I recommend the airport door to door tranfer too. Can I give them 6 stars?. The decor, design and layout of the apartment was fabulous as were the facilities within the apartment. It had all of the comforts of a home away from home. It is situated in the Jewish quarter, which although is not the main center of Krakow, it has oodles of charm in its own right with plenty of restaurants located right outside and a lively nightlife available nearby. The house and apartments are beautifully decorated. Magda was at the front desk during our stay and she was always very nice and helpful with us. Great location in lovely Kazimierz district, walking distance from sights and nice restaurants/cafés of the neighbourhood and also to the Main Market Square (Rynek Glowny). Lovely place to stay, hope to be back again. The receptionist is very helpful, nice and sweet. Room is extremely clean and new. There is a number of restaurants just at the entrance of the hotel but we have no time to try any. They even provide free tea bags and coffee powder in the room. Location is very good also as we went to the old town square on foot within 15 mins. Beautiful, stylish, spacious, well equipped and clean apartment with a character. The Jewish Quarter is worth to experience with many nice cafes and restaurants. The location is perfect, quiet at nights and just 10-15 min easy walk to city centre and the Main Square. The young staff were helpful and kind, and the access to a lively set of restaurants directly out front was a bonus. Despite being central to the bustling Kazimierz district, the apartment was quiet and allowed for a wonderful night's sleep. The bathroom was fantastic - nice water pressure and no issues whatsoever with the supply of hot water - and the internet connection never failed us. A wonderful stay. We have no negative views regarding Crystal Suites Chez Helena. Thank you for a wonderful stay whilst we were in Krakow. Wish I could have stayed longer. the sofa bed was not very comfortable. We lived at the top floor and no lift is available. However, it is not a problem for us. Little minus: the extra bed (sofa) was not very comfortable, but still okay... Nothing negative to comment on. The lounge / kitchen was on the small side and lacked comfortable chairs. The door knobs were dificult to use at times, but these were minor issues. The ceiling is angled to a point where you need to duck your head, and we found that we hit our heads on occasion - but the only unpleasant thing. Cant really think of any negatives !. Nothing. We were driving so was a bit hard to find with all the one way streets. Wasn't able to use the washing machine. We wished, for the price, that there had been some housekeeping during our visit. We were also mildly unsettled by the condition of the sofa bed. There were some stains on the upholstery, and once we opened up the bed, the interior mattress looked in need of a good vacuuming. These are very small issues, though, and otherwise we found lovely attention to detail during all aspects of our stay.
