Stay was excellent. The bicycle I borrowed was especially useful. Though, you should advise anyone cycling up to the university that if the department has a locked space to put bicycles during the day, then your guest should use it. Robert M. all reviews » Close to the wharf area, where most of the activity is. The flybybus drops you right at the front door, if coming to Bergen by air, and only a 20 minute walk to the station. The room was very well appointed. The breakfast had a wide range from which to choose. 5 minutes from the fjord cruise boats. Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious rooms, you can actually turn around inside the room, unlike other norwegian hotels we have stayed in. Nice decor and interior design to the hotel. Breakfast was very good...norwegians do great breakfasts. If you leave hungary, it is your fault !. Excellent location, responsive staff, nice and clean rooms, wi-fi is ok, our room was top floor and was pretty new (or recently refurbished). Nice breakfast, but far from something very good - just standard without big variety or choice. Excellent location, walking distance from all the important sites in the city. Handy parking lot opposite to the hotel was very helpful especially while staying in the city center of bergen. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect. Parking is convenient. The hotel offers pay parking across the street, say, on Holbergskaien, right by the water. However, if driving, you'd better reserve one parking place in advance. Only real parking is in a parking structure almost four blocks away !. It was a pretty decent hotel, but extremely overpriced. The hotels in Norway in general are expensive and the value for money is quite low. Also in the bathroom there is only some very low-cost shampoo/gel, which is quite embarassing for any hotel and also there is no tea/coffee maker in the room. Lobby looks quite "old", but it is being refurbished. None. Breakfast room was too crowded. Our triple room was on top floor, in which the blackout blinds didn't really work. Wht's worse, in the middle of night, we were woken up by noisy people on the street. Didn't get a good night's sleep!. The bar was rather cramped and the drinks very expensive - but this is not unique in Norway. It would have been helpful to have coffee making facilities in the room. Rush in the breakfast area. It can be avoided by rising up early (about 7 or 7.30)! The immediate surrounding of the hotel is not too nice but a few hundred meters is enough to make the difference!. Sometimes the breakfast room was a little congested because of the layout. Our children's room was too small but fine for one night stay. Confusion about amenities (they're different in summer, when waffle hour and hours for free breakfast are limited from what they're listed in the in-room info). Although the rest of the staff were helpful and welcoming, I encountered a rather unnecessarily irritable receptionist when I wanted to check out. Room was a bit old fashioned,but functional and tea and coffee in the room would have been welcome.The curtains need to be thicker- it stays light for longer at night and sunrise is early. 2nd floor room facing street and street light with curtains not up to the task. It is overpriced, because the rooms are not that nice. Walls looks little bit old and the hotel is also little bit older. Very high price ( but is in Norway ). Bathroom equipment could have been in better condition. The size of our children's room was too small - could be larger. Some rooms are renovated and others are old. Room is too small as in all european hotels. Decor was a little dated. Shower didn't drain properly so water filled bathroom and seeped into carpet in bedroom. No coffee maker in room. Very expensive, even by Norwegian standards as I would put hotel equivalent (just about) to a Travel Lodge hotel in UK. There is building work going on in the hotel. Workers started drilling at 7.30 then stopped for their first break at about 9 by which stage everyone in the hotel was awake!. Rooms are very tired No Kleenex in the rooms Given one key initially then two for three of us and it is needed for power in the room so needed to leave the room together. No shower curtain. Unfriendly front desk staff. no tea/coffee facilities in room expensive and not luxurious. Very small room. I had the impression that the hotel (facility, staff) was not adequate to handle the amount of visitors. The hotel's service list says they do laundery. They neglect to say "but not on weekends". Breakfast room is too crowded. The room and the single beds are very small,and pushed together .There probably were better rooms.the breakfast was provided, but was quite ordinary but adequate and plentiful enough.the rooms were not very clean in that the window sills were really dusty,and the bed cover looked a little unclean. i thought some public areas like the hallways and elevators were worn and dirty. there is no air-conditioning but we were given a floor fan. Construction going on outside of first two rooms they put us in. Finally got an acceptable room on second day in third room. Bathrooms and showers were tiny. three person room did not have the third bed, just a small and uncomfortable couch. Only one english channel tv, the rest are in Norvegian only. Disinterested staff; inadequate breakfast facilities; tiny room.
