The facilities were excellent, the setting quite pretty for a hotel just off the motorway (horses in a paddock close to the entrance, trees and small waterways behind the hotel), and the staff were all very kind. Our special request for a quiet room (submitted via LetsBookHotel.com) was met, which impressed us - especially as the booking was made only hours before arrival and the hotel seemed quite full.

This is probably a terrific hotel for families with children, but it can get a bit noisy in the restaurant for those of us who are there without tots, especially during the Friday/Saturday evenings when there is a special children buffet.Location - out of town. A hotel shuttle bus to Leiden station or maybe airport would be nice. My room was situated with direct access to the parking lot, and I had to go outside the hotel in order to get to my room. There was apparently no segregation of non-soking rooms. As a non-smoker I could detect slight smell of cigarette smoke. If rooms are not segregated it is extremely difficult to eliminate smell.I did not like the restaurant having only buffet, without the option of the menu. The dinner and breakfast buffet were too high. Carpet in my room not fully clean. Wireless internet signal was very poor from hotel room, and would either not connect or would drop. Signal good in main public areas of hotel, but not convenient when trying to work from room. The matresses of the beds were too old. size of room was on small side. That we did not have internet in the room !!. Towels in room needs replacement - very very old!. hot water temp varied during use. Walls too thin; I was upgraded to a better room because they were out of my type of room. However, there was too much noise (on the dining side) so I had to wear earplugs which helped somewhat. Internet use is quite expensive.That the window of rooms was directed to the walking area. sauna was part of public dressroom / swimming room; no swimming suit with me so I could not make use of the sauna.Very expensive for general type of hotel, layout meant that no rooms had fresh air. I wasn't "allowed" to see the dinner menu and was forced to eat the buffet for supper - which was totally overpriced. The Internet connection is awful and it is far too expensive for the quality you get (17 euros per day if you want the standard, not business connection and it is incredibly-incredibly slow). My room was facing the interior restaurant-court of the hotel and it was very noisy. The bed linen looked as if it hadn't been changed in ages, it was clean but looked old and grey. Expensive restaurant.

Extensive Breakfast:
In the morning, our extensive American breakfast buffet is served from 06:30 to 09:30 on Monday through Friday and from 07:00 to 10:30 on Saturday and Sunday, with a large choice of hot and cold dishes.

Lunch:
Lunch is served from Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 14:00 with an extensive choice of dishes served buffet style. In the evening, we alternate a buffet and choice from the à la carte menu.

Dinner:
From Monday to Thursday, dinner is served from 18:00 to 21:30.
Each Saturday and Sunday we offer a Holidome Family Buffet from 16:00 to 20:00. During this Holidome Weekend Buffet, a nanny will entertain the children with games and activities from 16:00 to 20:00.
Every Friday evening the pleasures of the Italian kitchen are served in a buffet style from 18:00 to 21:30.

Information about the area

When walking through Leiden, its rich history still seems very much alive. The University's Academic Building, the Waag and the stately mansions lining the famous Rapenburg, the beautiful churches and the 35 almshouses each tell a part of Leiden's history. This is where Rembrandt was born and developed his painting skills.

Leiden has many museums, all well worth a visit. The following is merely a selection:

- The National Museum of Cultural Anthropology displays treasures from different cultures.
- The Lakenhal Municipal Museum exhibits works by Rembrandt, Lucas van Leiden and Jan Steen.

Leiden's atmosphere is largely determined by its university. In 1575, Leiden was the first city of North Holland to be given a university in reward for the courageous behaviour displayed by its citizens during the Spanish occupation. The university has developed into a world-famous centre of science, while its many students contribute to the lively atmosphere in the city.

The old city centre of Leiden boasts a wide variety of shops. Moreover, every Wednesday and Saturday there is a general market along the water. This market has been in existence for 9 centuries. Leiden's culinary aspect is reflected in the wide variety of restaurants and bars on offer. The Leiden Jazz Week in January, the 10-day summer festival in July and the celebration of the Relief of Leiden on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of October are but a few examples of the many events that take place throughout the year.

Situated between Amsterdam, The Hague and Utrecht, Leiden is easily accessible by any means of transportation. The coast, an extensive lake district and the always colourful bulb fields in spring are just around the corner, so to speak.
