I loved the whole idea of staying on a ship. The location was great as
well, just a 5-10 minute walk to the Central Station area. The rate
included breakfast which was good, I just wish it started a little
earlier because we wanted to get out of the city to head home as early
as possible. This was our first time staying on a ship like this and it
was great. The host was nice and he had an awesome dog on board too. I
would absolutely return if I visit Amsterdam again. Note if you're

The owners were exceptionally nice and welcoming. The location is great! Only a ten minute walk from Central Station. Lovely breakfast is complimentary, the common area is extremely comfortable and you can sit up on deck and gaze out at the cityscape! Highly recommend Hotelschip Gandalf!!!.
None of the above words described Gandalf. It is an experience! Gandalf is a beautiful old barge which when we stayed on it was moored in the heart of Amsterdam. The staff are great, We enjoyed our stay of two nights.
Remember; Gandalf is a boat- small spaces, stairs and ramps.
It's hard to find a place with a better quality for the price, and less than 1km from Centraal Station. We were kindly greeted by arrival and surprised by the cozy living room. The rooms are small but since we were staying for the night, it was perfect for us.

Awesome location, easy to walk to everything we wanted to see. Very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast, rooms were cool, and the whole idea of staying on a boat did not disappoint. Would do this again, for sure.
The whole place was very clean and owners very friendly. The rooms were basic but comfy and a great experience. Breakfast was yummy and lots to choose from and were are hopefully going back in Feb.

I loved the owner and his dog Jalla, we loved our room, it was more than cosy and the breakfast was good. The whole boat was so lovely I would like to stay again there anytime!.

Location was good.
Check-in was at 1pm, but when we arrived at 1pm, our room wasn't
ready. We had walked around the city with our luggage, wasting time
until check-in, so it would have been nice to be able to use the
bathroom in our cabin to freshen up and relax for a bit. We had to leave
our bags with the staff, which always leaves me nervous, but it was
fine. Overall, I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to
friends on a budget.

By default the breakfest was scheduled from 9:00 to 11:00. This is too
late. Although the manager agreed to serve it for us at 8:00. I suggest
the hotel to shift the standard breakfets time to an earlier slot.
