A lovely, classic hotel. The staff were very helpful. I arrived several hours before the check-in time, but the staff managed to let me chek-in within less than 30 minutes. I stayed two nights in August. My room's windows was toward the back, so it's quiet. The room is spacious. The location is the best attraction. Just across the street is the famous Bak-Kut-Teh restaurant, and a 7-minute walk can go to the Suria Sabah Mall, and a 10-minute walk can lead to the Jesselton Port which heads for t.

Only 5 min walk to large handicraft market and local veg and fish markets and boats to islands.Efficient staff orgainised my taxis and trip to see orangutans at Ras Ria Resort. Very impressed with the heritage that this boutique hotel presents itself. My family had a pleasant experience, from arrival till the time we departed. If the carpet, wall and the ceiling can be renewed, it will be excellent!!. However, stale smell in the room we stayed due to old carpet, maybe. Parking is a problem and noisy and over-crowded on Sundays. most room is face to the main street, so it is noisy even in the mid night. Musty smell in corridors. Over priced compared to the much more spacious Hotel Sixty3 only 50m down the road. Bar staff were barely competent - it took 3 of them to work out how to make the cocktails on their menu! Hotel also mischarged our credit card and reception staff didn't know how to fix the problem. lobby cheerless and smal noisy water pipe system. Room carpets extremely dirty and stain..need change. Quick fix.... get them thoroughly clean. Restaurant was closed for lunch and dinner. Booked our room via letsbookhotel.com, which should have inform us of such unavailability of such facility. We booked into this hotel as we wanted to have steaks at its restaurant. none. Dining room having a refurb,breakfast was very poor. Old.. need facelift!. No tourist information available in room or lobby. Front desk staff not at all helpful in this regard, telling travellers to go to the Tourist Office. Lobby seats four people but has room for a Grand piano!!!!. The staff had cancel my booking. Only after a heated argument they gave a room. The room was shabby with stained carpet and thread bare bathrobe.

Established in March 1954, The Jesselton was the first hotel in Kota
Kinabalu, when Sabah was known as British North Borneo and Kota Kinabalu is still called by its colonial name, Jesselton.

The Jesselton, which has been recently fully refurbished, is completed
