all reviews » I stayed at Horizon for 3days during my holiday to Sabah recently..There's nothing we dont like about this hotel, our stay was worth it..I Wish we could stay a bit longer at Horizon..The view is breathtaking, the staff is very helpfull, we get our room (with sea view) as per requested in the booking and they even upgrade our room to deluxe king as i've mention in my booking that we were travelling with our baby and it's foc..i will surely stay at this hotel for our next visit to Sabah..This hot. Facilities, location and comfort all met up to the expectations I have of a place in this price range. Special mention of the user-friendly Wifi: no password needed, yet a dedicated wifi per room. Really nice. Buffet breakfast provided something to everyone's desire, especially for those with a sweet tooth. Staff was always helpful and friendly. Spa is also worth a visit: slightly more expensive than the salons in the street, but offers the privacy and quietude you might desire when enjoying a . Upon check-in, we were told that our room would be upgraded from superior deluxe to grand deluxe. Imagine our surprise when we went to the room and were so impressed with its décor. It was certainly like having our honeymoon again. The bathtub was just beside the bed! There was even a very spacious and long balcony with deck chairs for us to admire the sea view. (on 6th floor) Everything was just perfect. Would definitely stay there again. So close to the airport (a 10 minute taxi from kk airport). Rooms are large, clean and comfortable and just what we needed for our one night stay. We were upgraded to the top room type which was incredible and had great views. Some may find the 6th floor pool area a little compact. In order to get to nearby eateries, we had to walk along a large car park next to a park, where tour buses are stationed and we could smell urine. But that is not the hotel's fault. Just part of the surroundings. I had booked a room with sea views unfortunately our upgraded room faced inland. these tours were disappointing. On the Island Hopping tour our guide was not very helpful and the snorkelling was nothing like what I had read it would be. More people and rubbish then fish. Our second tour was to the Kinabalu Park and Poring Hot Spring. For this 12 hour day the guide was very good but sadly the mini bus was very uncomfortable, my eye level being above the top of the window. A very long day. nothing to complain about. Some staff seems not warmly. When I check in, the reception response slow and no smile. We had arranged for the hotel to make a wake-up call the next day - however they failed to do so. Luckily we had set the alarm on our phone, otherwise we may have missed our flight. They were disconnected by the letsbookhotel.com system when I arrived thus did not receive my booking but I was upgraded due to full capacity booking. A bit pricey but not a major problem since it provides excellent location. Nothing. Nothing. Breakfast was included however the same buffet was served. We stayed 5 days and got bored of eating the same food. just a note in double room you can see into the bathroom which was a little tricky with teenagers but easily worked out. None. No negative comments. Breakfast restaurant rather crowded in the mornings. Daily cleaning and service by chamber maids need some improvement. We stayed 5 days and practically every day I had to contact housekeeping because they forgot to refill items in the room. From toilet paper (3 times no toilet paper at all, they just forgot, refill bottles of water, coffee and tea, towels). - Breakfast only soso - two Cockroaches found in room during our 5 nights stay - Check-in staff was NOT friendly! - Room Cleanliness. The room is facing the city-side. And we checked the sea-view room which was not that great. Terribly slow wifi reception. Level 12 is filled with cigarette smoke smell and it lingers into our room too. The water flow of the rain shower sprayed down in different direction and not directly downwards. The restaurant during breakfast (depending on when you go) can get a bit hectic. -You might need to share a table with other guests -Not enough juice glasses /not replenished fast enough. Nothing to complain..everything is so good. The security key card system with only one key per room proved awkward when my wife and I wanted to do different things suggest you give all residents a key. Also nearly locked myself out on the safety stairs but having a second key would have avoided me trying to use them. Hospitality.could use some genuine attitude.smile and be pleasant to all,not selective guests,example taking for granted on local but not international tourists.but this only apply to few staff,the rest is great!. * Poor Wi Fi signal in room. The variety in the buffet food was missing. Traveler who are vegetarian will have a tough time to adjust to this kind of food. The spa in the hotel was a bit rubbish. I had a massage after climbing Mt Kinabalu - i wasn't impressed with the quality of the massage nor being required to provide a tip. My wife waited 30 minutes for her massage then gave up when no one could be found. We had booked 8 hours ahead so no excuse. Noise of AC and sound from other rooms. Nothing really.
