The hotel is new and beautiful. My family were wowed when we came through into the reception. Even though it's not a large room, it's beautifully designed and put us at ease. The hotel gave us an upgrade because I had made a mistake when booking our rooms and they wanted to help where they could. As expected, space is a premium in Japan, but this hotel's plan for our deluxe room uses the space perfectly and with style. We enjoyed two comfortable twin beds with perfect lighting (a clean cotton nightshirt everyday), a modern Japanese styled seating area with a table and cushions, and an exquisite bathroom that offered a glass doored soaking tub and shower compartment. Everything is either new or very well . Loved everything about this hotel! The staff were so helpful, the service was impeccable. The rooms were super clean and luxurious, tastefully designed and decorated. The location couldn't be better especially because it's sitting right on top of a 5 star French boulangerie- I can still taste the almond and chocolate croissants! Very good shopping and restaurants within walking distance and near the metro and bus stops for easy sight seeing. We travelled with a 22 month old and had a great expe. Excellent location, next door is the best pastry shop ever and it is 50m from the start of the big shopping malls. I walked to the Imperial Palace (30min walk) which was also good. Subway is pretty close, only few min walk. The room was very spacious, the bathroom too with a very nice shower! Excellent value, especially for Japan. Centre-point exactly to the restaurant streets, duck river, shop streets, movie house and the heritage wet market. Close communication (by bus or subway) to temples and the scenic mountain. Breakfast was good but could spend alternative days in nearby coffee shops with same or less expenses. Also close to Osaka by metro subways without taking JR. Airport bus to Kansai near hotel is convenient only if taking morning flight. Should look at those informat. The hotel looks very nice with a stylish entrance and quite spacious rooms in Japanese terms. Pillows were comfortable, bath instead of shower was convenient. Location was excellent - lots of good dining options close by (eg yakiniku hiro, musashi) and a shopping area not more than 50m from the front door. A short stroll from the riverbank where it is nice to sit on a summer evening, watch and listen street performers and have an Asahi. :) Due to that we never used the hotel dining facilities, . Faultless. The staff were helpful, friendly, had excellent English. The room was a good size, the bed & water pillow were extremely comfortable. It was quiet, despite being located perfectly amongst the action. We arrived about 12.30pm, having flown over night then trekked to Kyoto by train & were able to check in, rather than being made to wait until 3pm as at many places in Japan. The bar was interesting. There was a fantastic supermarket & (upstairs) bottleshop next door. The best thing about this hotel is it's location - smack in the middle of shopping and eating (walking distance to ginza). To visit the cultural things in Kyoto, it's mostly on the outside of the city. But the subway was a few blocks away so that's very easy. It's a design hotel with a beautiful entry, friendly staff and excellent bathroom with great shower. We didn't take breakfast since they have an excellent bakery next door (where you can sit and enjoy breakfast). It's right in the middle of all, shopping district nearby, boulangerie for breakfast next door, restaurants galore in the small streets in the vicinity (ask at reception, they have a lot of good recommendations), major sightseeings in a circle around, but too far to walk. A beautiful hotel with a discreet entrance & beautiful foyer in dark tones & witty sculptural forms, Lovely stylish rooms with good linen, western style double bed, good array of lighting fixtures spotless bathroom with excellent daily cleaning, small refrigerator. Hotel is very well located - close to Pontocho, Yasuka Shrine & Gion, and the efficient subway. Wonderful concierge staff who were patient and extremely helpful. Modern and upscale. Excellent location in the heart of Kyoto, just across the river from the train and subway station. Within a block of Pontocho and 3 of Nishiki food market. We also got breakfast each day at the next door boulangerie. The room rate we had was cheaper than at budget business chains we stayed elsewhere on the same trip. Staff was extremely friendly and helped us find train tickets we mistakenly threw out. We really appreciated the helpfulness of the staff and the very useful advice they provided about places to visit and how to travel around the city. Thank you and we will recommend the hotel to others and plan visit again. The location is great for Kyoto sightseeing with proximity to subway, keihan rail stations as well as several bus lines. The rooms are on the small side, but very clean and comfortable. Bathroom in the deluxe twin room is quite large. The italian restaurant downstairs may not be the best place for breakfast but offers great value and good food for lunch and dinner. The cafe next door is wonderful for breakfast. I've been to Royal park Kyoto last year, by chance and this time decided to come back. The staff is very helpful, the rooms are very comfortable, and as far as I'm concerned the location is ideal, just 50 m away from pontocho, 100 m away from the subway. This hotel's excellent reputation, build up over the last year, is fully deserved in my view. So if you find a reasonably priced room there, stop searching. Free wifi for guests, excellent power shower and nice selection of bathroom toiletries, staff at front desk were very helpful, great location in the centre of Kyoto near the river and main streets, also a short walk to Gion, comfy beds, iPads in the lobby for guest use along with helpful folders of information about visiting Kyoto. Very impressed overall. Would definitely go back if in Kyoto again. I would highly recommend this place. The toilet is the latest in hi-tech. Nice room, spacious bathroom. Friendly, helpful people at the front desk. There are a bunch of fast food places to eat breakfast for Y400 within a block. They have a laundry room, so for Y500 you can do a load. You can get buses to anywhere from here walk to the shopping areas and the river, Ponto-cho and Gion. The great art work and design inside the hotel. Excellent wifi access at 6th floor. Great room with comfortable bed, really nice bathroom. Soundproofed walls between rooms therefore nice and quiet. Impressive breakfast with both japanese and international alternatives. The Royal Park Hotel is nicely located near many restaurants and shops. It is also close to the subway and bus stops, so it was easy to get around the city from our hotel. This is a nice little Boutique hotel in the centre of Kyoto. I stayed on the "Ladies" floor and had a very nice room with lots of little amenities. The hotel receptionist was giving us a room on the 2nd floor, but I pointed out that our letsbookhotel.com reservation said that our room would be on a higher floor. After consulting a manager, she gave us a room on the 7th floor. Nothing. I wished they have bigger room to properly accommodated 3 persons as we have to take turns if we want to open our luggages. Small room when compared to Hotel Hankyu International, Osaka where I stayed in the first three days. My room window faced to the wall of the adjacent building. Ask for the several rooms facing the front street on each floor. Could fault only two things: - the only thing missing for top marks for the hotel facilities is a gym; - the air conditioner in the rooms seemed to have a mind of its own - we never seemed to be able to set it on normal temperature, it was always either too hot or too cold. Perhaps just a few too many pieces of furniture in the room. It's a small room with almost no closet space. We booked a small double for 6 nights. The room only had an open space for 6 coat hangers. So since we wanted to unpack, the desk and site table were full with our clothes. But we considered it only a minor inconvenience. Rooms are a touch smallish. Definitely not a cheap place to stay. The room was a little small but we knew that would be the case in Japan. All other factors considered this isn't much of a downside. Nothing. Everything was perfect. The room was very nicely appointed and appeared to be new. The size of the room would be spacious for 2 beds, however with 3 beds, it was a little cramped. The hotel entrance and lobby are majestic so the room decoration seemed a bit bland in comparison. There was nothing to dislike. nothing to report. The laundry was in high demand and the driers don't properly dry- after two hours my laundry was still wet. I requested non-smoking room, but they couldn't prepare non-smoking. None. Small room for 3 big luggage so a little bit hard to crossing the room without skip over the bed. Nothing, we wholly enjoyed our stay there and are planning our return already. The bar was pretty expensive, but I found Kyoto was compared to other places. -Rather small room -Not enough room to open 2 luggages on the floor simultaneously. Leaving !. Even though non-smoking rooms were requested, for 2 of 3 of our stays we were put in smoking rooms. They did ventilate and aerate (?) and this helped somewhat. I was told that this is a "common complaint". Nothing. Bathroom little cramp but but not to bad. Small rooms with not so great views. Hard to put your suitcase out. Could have used more washers and dryers. Nothing!!.
