A fabulous authentic experience staying in a small traditional family run inn in Kyoto. The owner is lovely - she carefully explained the Japanese etiquette to us (particularly the numerous changes of footwear!), how to eat our various breakfast delicacies and she even dressed me in the gorgeous 2nd hand kimono I picked up at a flea market! Every day she was interested in following our daily route on the inn's complimentary bikes. The bicycles were a terrific way to get around as the inn is a f. all reviews »
Super friendly landlady organises your stay and speaks very good
English, and her helper was very kind and taught me some Japanese. The
rooms are basic and simple, but beautiful tatami rooms. This hotel is
really a traditional Japanese house with the upper floor given to 5
bedrooms for guests. Shared toilet and nice mineral bath. This is a
place for quiet, relaxing time in the traditional manner.
Wonderful place to stay. 3 minute walk to JR Station. Staff And owner speak good English. Very helpful - went out of their way to get our 2 cases delivered after mistake was made at last hotel. Clean and modern.
The owner was very friendly and helpful!.
everything.
authentic experience, rustic, homey, maternal host, soak tub.
Nice owner.
The Inn is a fair walk from the subway station so I would recommend a taxi ride on arrival if you have luggage. The Japanese breakfast, although delicious, was a little expensive. The one bathroom (Shower and Japanese bath) had to be carefully timed or you may miss out and the shower did run cold a couple of times. But none of this was a huge hassle!.
Unfortunately the landlady needs to lock the house at night, which means
you have to be back by, say, 11 or midnight at the very latest. For
those looking for nocturnal fun in Kyoto, this is not the place for you.
nothing.
too homey, not luxury-but you should be surprised.
Not possible to pay with creditcard.
