Sheila's Cork Hostel is less than 5 minutes' walk from the centre of Cork. It has a sauna, and offers free Wi-Fi, free city maps and free movies in the cinema room. Sheila's Hostel is a short walk from St. Patrick's Quay and Cork Opera House. The bus and train stations are very close by. The cinema room has lots of comfortable bean bags to sit on. Films are shown every day on a 42-inch (106 cm) plasma-screen TV. There is a self-catering kitchen and a terrace. As well as free Wi-Fi, low-cost internet use is available from the hostel's own computers. Sheila's Tourist Hostel won a "Recommended" award by "Let's Go" in 2008.

The rooms were basic but very clean. The facilities in general were very clean. Disc parking right outside the door. There was a nice atmosphere within the hostel. Staff were very present and welcoming. A lovely building with great facilities, friendly staff and only a short roll down the hill to MacCurtain Street and a few minutes more to the town centre. The staff were very friendly however that is to expected as it is in Cork. have no complaints all as advertised online.

User friendly, and great location. Will defo be returning. We were staying on the top floor so a lot of stairs. The walls are so thin that you can hear what your neighbours are having for breakfast. The private rooms are also quite small for the money, and the bathrooms suffered a little from mildew. Also, and this is something that the hostel could do little about, the place was packed with the loudest Spanish girls you could ever imagine - so be warned if you're old and cranky and looking for a good night's sleep, like we were!. You need to press the shower button every 15 seconds for water. Annoying, but that's okay. My shower never got hot. As with all hostels, it was fairly loud. Not horrible though. Rooms weren't terribly clean & could have used a thorough cleaning. No wifi except for 1st floor, but I believe they said as much before I booked it. Sometimes you get lucky though. The walk up the hill from MacCurtain St. But that's not the hostel's fault. :). you need to be fit,,,,very steep hills. No heating and shower take long time to get hot. I didn't like that we had to pay 3 euros for a breakfast that was more simple than most complimentary breakfasts I've had. Website offered lockers in the rooms however on arrival I realised they were all broken... Maybe they should have them fixed or amend facility details online hostel has to offer. It was a little un nerving having belongings in a 14 bed dorm room with no where to lock gear away. The big hill !!!!!!! :) Electric socket in room 309 did not work or heater. noisy, WIFI only on the main floor, dirty kitchen. We booked a double bed (the picture of the bedroom showed on the website includes a double bed) and we had 2 simple beds without any e-mail or anything else informing us about the lack of double bed, even at the reception! What's more, we had to pay before discovering the trick! I was really disappointed and I wouldn't pay this price for twin beds in a noisy hostel. It is a little expensive because the location is not very good. You have to walk a lot and there are too much stairs. They tried to give us a different room with twin bed instead of a double. Not hot water in the shower. Extremly noisy. Shower's to hot. But I can cope with that.
