Ideal location for golfers, people who fish, or anyone who wants to visit Athlone town. We were very impressed from the minute we arrived at the B/B to the time we left. The house was beautiful and our host was very welcoming and helpful. She did everything to make our stay good . Rooms were clean and comfortable.There was a games room and a tv room. Breakfast was delicious with as good a choice as a top class hotel. This family run B/B has all any one would need and we would love to return.
all reviews » Niamh and Ronan were very friendly and went above and beyond the call of duty. We used our towels and wanted to re-use them. Niamh left notes to tell us who used which towel. She was so kind. They recommended many different types of eatery and suggested pre-booking. We had 2 beautiful meals out in Athlone. The sat nav co-ordinates were spot-on. The owners were very friendly and accomodating. The bedrooms were big and comfortable the beds were spotless and comfy. Breakfast for me was perfect real fruit salad freshly done as I only take fruit for breakfast. Our grandchild was able to play with the owners childrens trikes and tractors at the back garden. The owner was lovely, so friendly and obliging. She went out of her way to look after us, she made 2 trips to the hotel nearby, where the wedding was on, so we didnt have to pay for taxis.She even made my boyfriend a breakfast sandwich the next morning when he couldn't get up for breakfast! A fantastic host!!. Naimh was wonderful! Very accommodating. Room was spotless. Bathroom was modern and a beautiful black and white tile. Our room was tastefully decorated. All the rooms felt very homey. Breakfast incl a continental breakfast buffet, then cooked us a trad Irish breakfast! Our hostess was warm and friendly. The B&B had fantastic facilities. We made good use of the pool table as a nice way to relax after a long day of travelling. Niamh was a great hostess providing all the information we needed about where to eat etc. in nearby Athlone. The breakfast had a great choice including mini muffins!. The house was beautiful, rooms were spacious and exceptionally clean. They had a games room with a pool table, big TV and Wii which my teenager loved and a play room which my 6 yr old liked. Breakfast was super and Niamh and Ronan were very welcoming. I will definitely be back. Niamh and Ronan are excellent hosts. Alverna house is a purpose built Bed and Breakfast; beautifully designed and presented. The best B&B accommodation. You need a car, it's several kilometers out of Athlone itself (but we chose this B&B knowing this as we'd heard that Athlone itself can get quite noisy at weekends -- which certainly seemed to be true when we went there for dinner). Being in the country I was hoping that there would be somewhere nice to have a stroll in the evening, but there was nowhere obvious (the B&B is on quite a busy road) -- I didn't ask Niamh though so I may have missed something. Nothing. Nothing. There was nothing to dislike about Alverna House B&B. No credit/debit card acceptance other than that my whole family were really satisfied. It's on the n61, the gps didn't recognize the location. We had to ask intsruction to get there. Nothing. Nothing, everything is OK. Nothing. Wifi did just barely work in the room (no 5). But the B&B has an excellent 'living room' for guest where I could do all my internet stuff. Nothing. Please be advised that it is far from athlone center. For me it was convenient and ok but this place is far from the city center. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. nothing.
