Our room was overlooking the sea and had a balcony. Staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a family beach right next door. It was in a quiet area. I felt like I was on a cruise liner, with waves sloshing below. The dining room even looked liked something of an old liner. To get to the sights and the bright lights, you would need a taxi, but a free bus service is also available from nearby.
all reviews » Liked the location and various facilities. Although booked a luxury room we must have been upgraded to a suite complete with lounge area and kitchenette,plus to terraces. Continental breakfast brought to the room was prompt, fresh with plenty of choice. Friendly helpful staff but be warned there is usually a traffic jam at reception when booking out.all in all very good value for money. Friendly staff, excellent location and also quiet in comparison with Gibraltar town. The sea views where beautiful to wake up to. Nuno's restaurant to eat during the evening was expensive but worth it if it's a special occasion. The location was excellent overlooking the sea. The staff were helpful and friendly. Very clean and comfortable with an especially good balcony. So good that the man in the next room was fishing from it. Our room was on the eastside overlooking the water the view was spectacular access to the beach was easy and service was great it was just the best location. the view of the sea from the balcony of our room was splendid! the position of the hotel on the cliff the garden outside and the lobby. I like the view, the balcony is facing the sea. Very beautiful and you can have a good relax. The Italian restaurant is really superb. We thought the staff were very friendly and helpful. The view was spectacular but the bathroom had mold on the tiles and many of the electrical plugs had problems. Also, a porter is needed day and night to carry luggage since there is no elevator. The outside looked dated, inside though it felt slightly more modern, had a few areas that looked as if they could do with a lick of paint. Rubber strips on the doors would help reduce noise, both in the room and for surrounding rooms. Some parts of the hotel including the rooms patio doors and living windows could do with upgrading and better security with patio doors which no longer lock. Our room was effectively at the front of the hotel which only gave views of the rock face - ask for a room on the sea side of the hotel. Nothing to dislike. If someone disliked the hotel then they should 'get a life'. The lack of a lift in some areas of the hotel....especially the part we were staying in! The whole hotel could benefit from some paint and a general facelift. Calling reception to confirm that I am in the right location, told NO and then spending an hour driving in circles when I could have been in the hotel as it was the right location. While far from being bad, I would have liked the beds to have been a little softer. Transportation directions could also have been a little clearer. The shower screen wouldnt move so found it extremely difficult to reach taps without standing in bath. Only decaf coffee in room. Having to wait at bar for 10 mins because there was a wedding on wasnt too great. carpet in room stained and some parts of the hotel need some tlc. The whitewash when the wind blew. the staff at breakfast no elevator. the mobile signal and internet wifi signal is not strong enough. Nothing, we were really happy with everything. Our flight arrived at early morning, but the hotel start to check-in at 2pm. Parts of hotel lacked TLC e.g. Patio doors in room. Patio balcony dripping with build up of water. Unused lower terraces in need of care. It would be nice to see a better approach to water conservation e.g. shower needed full pressure to operate. Needs doing up. Rooms need upgrading. Building starting to show its age., But it is clean. Border crossing from and to Spainis a nightmare. Arrive early, you will waste two hours. The hotel was flagged as 4* however a lot of areas like the bathrooms both in the room and public were old and looked grubby. The first member of staff we spoke to was extremely over familiar. For a four star hotel, the service in the breakfast room, although fairly efficient, was not friendly or particularly helpful. Some supervision, and some leadership in interacting with the guests would help enormously. Also, the hairdryer was basic and not what I would expect. The hotel needs some reconstruction/painting from outside. Small pool. Restaurant - food was OK, but I have chosen a meat on the hot pan. When the waiter came with the hot pans and put it on the table, small drops of hot oil went all over our shirts for another few minutes. This is not acceptable. Lobby bar - very slow staff, bad service. Almost no service on the terrace. Lack of adequate on site parking. Black mold on the bathroom ceiling. AC unit not working (short term problem?). Hotel needs a spruce up with a lick of paint, inside and out. No cooked breakfast No slippers supplied as advertised. Food not excellent. Run-down appearance of the Hotel. Hotell needs to be renovated. Room was old sink broken toilette flush was not working lamp were broken the whole hotel makes a old impression. No lifts in part of hotel. Very run down,espescally the rooms door knobs came off in hand. Drawers did not open. Paint pelling off balcony, 2 star hotel charging 4 star prices. Parking minimal. very tired 1950'S style first room offered ac didn'T work no lift on old wing, wasn'T offered A choice. parking on site for only 8 cars. The reception. It was chaotic and unprofessional. I have stayed at this hotel for the past 13 years. I booked my stay 4 months ago but was cast a side for a basket ball game. I booked a sea view which turned out to be a rock view because my room was given away to basket ball young kids, the pool which is normally relaxing was like a kids play ground, the bar was like a hooligan football game with chanting and singing. Never again. The time of grandness of this hotel is long gone, the hotel screams for restoration; - the bathroom was disgusting - plenty of mould, peeling paint; the rate was heavily overcharged - especially off season; breakfast buffet so so; in the restaurant there was a minimal amount that needed to be spent;.
