We stayed for 4 nights and the hotel was in a lovely position in an area off the main shopping street. It was very clean and the bedrooms of good standard. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. We loved the views from the roof terrace swimming pool, especially the nearby Rock. The outside bar area was lovely to sit and eat in for a couple of evenings. This hotel is located in the centre of all that is happening in Gibraltar. The associated parking is a significant plus for this accommodation. The hotel has everything a short term visitor would require to make this stay easy. The roof top restaurant and pool/solarium terrace was fabulous and again made our stay more relaxing.
all reviews » The hotel was in a terrific location for shopping being only a 5 min walk to the centre and also good for local sights. Good sized bedroom with tea and coffee making facilities and good breakfast although I did think a little pricey. The hotel is very central to the heart of Gibraltar,it's a very relaxing place and the staff are always ready to assist with any enquiries,we rate this hotel very highly,music in the lounge in the evening was very good with a pint. It looked the best hotel in gib when i booked and i wasnt wrong when i got there.. it looks just like the photos and wouldnt look anywhere else before booking again to stay!! Excellent A+++++ ♡. Location was perfect for our two night stay. We were upgraded at no extra cost which was a nice suprise The staff and facilities, roof top pool and sundeck was excellent. Very spacious room with super-king sized bed, 3 seater settee. Large separate dressing area. Excellent facilities and ideally located just off the main shopping area. The first night (Friday) was noisy but mainly due to celebrating guests banging doors and the lift bell. As with most of the hotels in Gibraltar the accommodation is in places a little bit tired; although the Elliott is definitely better than others I've visited. Expensive internet and tv was not working, although we were told this would be fixed soon, so only a short term problem. The worst thing was the price in the restaurant for the restaurant dinner but i am sure get what you pay for!! :-). Beer was a little pricey (Sorry I'm a Yorkshire Man). Very expensive WIFI facilities. With the very narrow streets of Gibraltar, with a larger car it is difficult to navigate to the carpark. Shower over high sided bath. Lack of fridge in room. Dated décor. Tv Programmes unavailable during our stay. Bathroom in need of some maintenance. Shower head 50% blocked, water very slow to drain away. Water not very hot in morning. Not getting the right room initially. Rather brusque attitude of the young woman on reception who was usually on her mobile phone to her mates. High cost of internet use. Nada. Really crappy shower! ... And actually getting waiter service in the bar downstairs is quite an achievement!. The parking area is inadequate and expensive. The breakfast is fine but very overpriced - you can get a similar breakfast for half the price just round the corner in Main Street. restaurant closed too early!. Having to pay for Wifi in a 4 star hotel unusual in this day and age. WiFi expensive. I did manage to shame them into getting a few hours free but when MacDonalds has free WiFi its a con to chage £5 per hour. Also it £12 per nigh car park. Can't think of anything. Only rooms with baths are on 3 rd floor and during our visit guest were being accommodated on other floors. We were attending a formal dinner there and the food was very poor and they had crammed far too many diners into a small room. I was not asked for a credit card by the unhelpful receptionist when I checked in. I hung out the card for room service breakfast. When it arrived I was asked for cash which I paid. I went to reception later and sorted it out. After three days I was again asked for cash which I refused to pay. Reception said they would sort it out with catering. When I checked out I was billed for one of the breakfasts at £15 instead of £12.50. It just seemed shambolic. nothing. lack of loungers at the pool. Check in not being flexible. Paying for the internet - this is very old fashioned. breakfast was far too expensive lift was not always working water was't hot one night towels hard to get hold of. Gibraltar. Cost of car parking and room prices without breakfast. the hotel was not easy to find. it is old / very tired - bad need of an upgrade. needed a power adaptor to charge our phones/ etc - hotel menu said they had them, but no none were available. if you dont have very high expectations this is a good hotel. The service was poor except in the breakfast area. Staff seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than serving. Parking at £12/day was expensive and you should not have to pay extra for WiFi (£26 for 2 days is ridiculous. Excessive charges for Wifi and hotel public computer use. The room (220) also lacked the normal armchair or equivalent. Hotel is generally good but is becoming tired in its decor and condition. Minor issues like extractor fan in bathrom did not work (not a disaster but a minor point) also bathroom door from main bedroom had a very loud creak when opening and closing - noise coming from the hinges. That could have disturbed other guests in neighbouring rooms. thin joining walls - sound carries breakfast dining room was tight for space and had to wait to be seated v. noisey aircon and bathroom extraction units. Its all a little bit tired and therefore relatively expensive. Rooms a bit dàted. Minor signs that cleanliness could be better. Carpets stained etc. Ecpect better standard for rates charged on some night of stay. Old facilities, and old furniture which had some splinters and could hurt little kids. Carpets were not very clean. No adapters available for European or American outlets. Nothing!!. The drilling first thing in the morning, the rooms get so hot and if you turn on the AC the noise it makes is awful so you might as well stay up all night!. Very poor service on check out, long queues and no apologies. Expensive wi fi. Breakfast was uninspired and room is too small to accommodate number of guests at the hotel. Challenging to find location in narrow, one way and pedestrian streets. Better signage please. Hotel is tired and showing age. Charging for WiFi is not cool. Quality of furniture was very poor,sink in bathroom had crack,shower side was rusted, and twice we were woken up by alarm without prior notice once at 3.30 am in the morning. I think we are in titled to compensation. The hotel needs up some dating A fridge would would have been good as it is so hot it's nice to wake up to some cold water . the breakfast was horrible poor quality meat In Sausages and all was cold and it cost £15 We got a superior breakfast for £6 next day in town. Paid for the room four months in advance with request for a room with a view: allocated a room overlooking local residents washing lines. Had to complain about the room with the staff who were not sympathetic. Basically told that it was tough luck and rooms are allocated as they fall empty. Slack service in the restaurants and breakfast not open at times advised. dirty sock from previous guest in room no facilities at pool, no food or drinks or towel service. This place hasn't been updated since the 1980's and the staff was very unhelpful. A real disappointment since this was the most expensive place we stayed at during our two week trip. We were forced to wait in the lobby for an hour after checking waiting for our rooms to be ready and the staff never even apologized for the inconvenience. If you want to see Gibraltar, stay in a nearby Spanish town and make a day trip out of it.
