Loved the location of the hotel which is so close to the DOM Cathedral, the Rhine River (which extends to 4 countries) the city center with shops, pick up point for city tour and Cologne's tourist center. Restaurants abound in its vicinity. Hotel room was enormous ( we got upgraded), clean but styled in the 80's. It had a kitchenette, and 2 bedrooms ideal for families and long staying guests. Breakfast was truly satisfying. For those with heavy luggage, there is one flight of stairs to take you.
all reviews » The room was as advertised, clean with all required amenities. Breakfast was awesome with a wide choice of hot and cold food and beverages. Staff was really welcoming and helpful plus they offer you as much fruits as you want and one free bottle of water daily, which was really fantastic. The location is also just a 5 minute walk from the Dom and central station plus there is a metro station just in front of the hotel. Great experience and hotel!. This hotel is in a fantasic location just a couple of minutes walk from the Dom ant many of the other attractions of Cologne. The room was clean and the bed was good. The artwork around the hotel was fun. All the staff we met were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough to help. Breakfast was as good as it gets, I can't believe anyone would be disapointed. We would recommend this hotel and would love to stay there again. It was only a short walk to the cathedral and train station, parking was ok, from 23.00 to 09.00 it is free outside the hotel. Staff were very good and helpful, great breakfast. There are plenty of shops. Despite my negative comments I like the city, the hotel and the cathedral is great. The location of the hotel was excellent, and the included breakfast buffet was a great way to start the day. The rooms were clean and spacious enough for the two of us, and even though we just had backpacks, I can imagine the elevator is a welcomed relief for long-stay travelers. We stayed in an apartment suite across the street. Rooms were enourmous by European standards, very clean and stylish. We had our own kitchen with appliances, living room with tv, and two bedrooms each with two large beds. Just a short walk from Dom, shopping, restaurants, etc... Very nice apartment, perfect for a family or a group of friends. We stayed in Apt #1 and the 2 bedrooms are big & living room has a 40-in flat screen tv. A lot of drunks and homeless around here, although having said that, this seems to be general around the city and most other large cities. Very noisy from shouting drunks and a main road not far away. However it was not all bad, we still had wheels on the car in the morning and we had survived the night. We had stayed at the Novotel before and I have to say I felt less safe last time walking back to that hotel so thats an improvement at least. Service knocked on the door every morning at 9 AM, which was an unpleasant way to be woken up. No Air Conditioning! And it was a hot summer night. Our room was perfectly OK but at the top of the hotel and a little dark. Ask for room with more light. Also asked for a double but got a twin in an l-shaped. If airconditioning is avalaible, this place would be the perfect place to stay for the exceptionally hot summer nights. Nothing. Had a room with the toilet across the hall but to be honest this was different rather than inconvenient. It was advertised, as having an additional toilet, which was not the case, chose the 6 pax apartment instead of 5 pax and paid 30 euros extra for the additional toilet, which was never there. There is a lot of erotic artwork on the walls which didn't bother us at all but the 5 or 6 self portraits in the room were done on bits of cardboard which were fluffing at the ends. Very poor. We think the room would be better without them. n/a. - Small room with limited shower area - "Thin walls" (you can practically hear everything from the hallway or neighbouring rooms) - Could use some refurbishing. This hotel is little too old, some renovation needed. And there is not much space in the rooms. Old equipment in the shower, and also shower cabin is really small. Rooms could do with more light and chairs to sit on rather than on the bed. Tea making facilities could be provided so you dont have to ask staff to keep running around after you. the 6-persons apartment only has two bedrooms; all beds are in these rooms. Loud noise in the morning which made by repairing... The room is too small, and the WC is outside the room. Not so convenient. Most important is that booking was done for EURO 354.00 inclusive all taxes but they charged Euro 373.00. The apartment is having only one toilet, its not fit for occupancy of six this should have minimum toe toilets. Kitchen is not having hot water facility. A plethora of only nude pictures, looks like non artistic collection. I didn't dislike anything. Small thing was that the 6th floor didn't have elevator, only went to 4. if there is kettler to make tea and it will be best. aircon in bathroom was too noisy. The location of our room faced the road which was pretty loud. Also, though there was a shower and sink in the room, toilet was located in the hall (but it was private). The first night we arrived late and were given and older appartment which was dark, had horrible old carpet and the heating system (which was off) made noises all night. However, after complaining to the staff we were transferred the next morning to the nice new appartment that looks like the photos on letsbookhotel.com.
